Novak didn't just defend. He defended when he had to, but if the ball was there he went ****ing hard at it.
Yeah, that's what a primarily defensive player does. Primarily aggressive players usually create more opportunities to hit outright winners from neutral rally positions. Djokovic incrementally improves his position in the rally until he gets a really short ball.

I hope Roddick can get his foot out of Deckers Azz

He has a real chance this Wimbledon and USO to actually win and try to salvage his career

But he got heaps of short balls from Murray. No real reason to go for it when it wasn't there because the next ball back from Murray was definitely going to be there.

Being extra aggressive for the sake of being aggressive is silly.

Jim Courier called Novak an aggressive player plenty of times tonight. His game is aggressive. He gives everything he has into that forehand.

Yeah, agree. Not criticizing him. You just have to hit a couple of deep balls down the center to Murray's forehand to get a short ball anyway. :D

Haha yeah. ****'s sake Murray.

Has such a good all round game for the most part. Just mental mush.

They talk about a Novak vs. Murray rivalry.

Well Nadal is still only one year older than them, and Juan Martin Del Potro will be back mother ****ers. Both of them are mentally tough ****ers as well.

Novak's game will probably hold up well in Clay, just needs to work on the droppers

Top 4 for the French

1. Nadal
2. Federer
3. Soderling
4. Novak

Depends on JMDP's fitness. He's gun on clay as well. As is Berdych. Ferrer as well obviously.

Goes without saying really, but Nadal is a looong way from the rest on clay if he stays fit. Especially at Roland Garros. Don't see him losing there to anyone in the foreseeable future.

Yeah, it's more a debate about which other three can make the semis :p

I call Soderling, Djokovic and Ferrer.

Nadal to win Roland Garros. Soderling to make the final. Djokovic and Ferrer to make the semis. Maybe JMdP to do something if he's fit. My mens predictions.

Will be keen to see who wins the woman's comp @ Roland Garros. Don't really see a standout there, particularly given Schiavone came out of nowhere to win it last time.

I know Nadal and Hewitt are ****ing awesome retrievers. As is Murray. As is Ferrer.

I'm saying that Novak is the best, at least on hard courts. He puts the ball back and deep, and is back in position like a flash.
Micheal Chang just popped in my head and he was absolute beast in getting balls in play. Plus he did in the quicker courts. When he took a few sets of Sampras it was a thing of beauty, unbelievable gets and shot making

Noticed a couple of similarities between the men's and women's comp this Open.

- Both #1 seeds knocked out in finals stage by a player seeded outside top 5 but within top 10 (yes, Nadal's injury, I know)
- Both #2 seeds knocked out by the #3 seeds in the semi-finals
- Both champions the #3 seeds
- Both runners-up holding the hopes of their respective nations on their backs

In other news, Murray = dire. What a letdown of a Final.

Does anyone here believe that Murray will actually win a Grand Slam title?
Depends how the men's game develops I guess.

What if Rafa were to have been injured at Wimbledon, and Murray played Berdych in the final?

You can't see him beating the top 3, but if a Soderling or Berdych or Tsonga went on a run and he met them in the final he may win.

Then again he may be under more pressure than ever because he'd be such a huge favourite. He's been underdog in every final he's played (was around $2.40 pre match tonight).

Murray was pretty gash but FMD Djokovic's work across the baseline was incredible.
Murray wasn't hitting deep enough (or wide enough arguably) but Djokovic was just smashing everything back at him just as hard as it came, there were some points where you thought he was gone and then somehow he'd pull something out of the hat and gain control in the rally.
Gotta give it to him, only one guy was going to win that, deserved it.
