***Official*** Stanford Super Series

G.I.Joe

International Coach
Hope the Stanford Superstars win the game within as few overs as possible so that the poor English players can quickly be spared their misery of the events of the week past.

Allen Stanford reacts to speculation that his fiancee, Andrea Stoelker, who is also president of the Stanford 20/20's board of directors, was fired because of a liaison with Chris Gayle
 Maybe poor Allen was just trying to prove a point to Andrea. Only maybe.

For those Aussies who have Foxtel, this thing is on ESPN live on Sunday morning, in its entirety.

Haha, yeah, a million bucks (if they win) for, quite possibly, doing nothing but maybe bowling an over or two.
Tbf, he is a pretty good fielder and you never know when that could factor in a one off 20/20 match. But yeah, bit of a joke he is in the side.

Feel sorry for Jimmy, ah well, if we win then I guess he'll have $250k to console himself

But yeah, how lucky is Luke Wright. His place in our LOI side since the summer has been best described for mine as "11th man".

That is, England players get their money for next to nothing and Allen Stanford gets his chicks for very-much-not-free (but he doesn't care as free for him is about $100,000).

Interesting fact of the day, Dire Straits wrote Money For Nothing about my hero Nikki Sixx

Wright only seems to have held onto his place over the past year or so simply because he hasn't had much of a chance to do anything wrong.

I don't think there is any prize money for the Ashes, as it is not an ICC conducted event or a tournament as such. There would be some revenue sharing agreement entered into between Cricket Australia and ECB.

I honestly don't know. I certainly think there's a decent possibility of it (ie, that The Ashes for a decent sum > Stanford's personal amusement for a crazily large sum) at the moment, though I'm far from fully confident. As I say, you'd not be human if the thought didn't even cross your mind.

30 years down the line, though, we simply don't have a clue. We cannot hope to.
Watched about seven balls of, well I'm not going to call it cricket.. Why not just go and watch some other sport? I've given up worrying about what is around the corner, when it's something the genuine cricket fan is absolutely powerless to change.. And I guess we must be boring most of the forum with our thousands of posts that say essentially the same thing

It's seven more balls than i've watched, and i'm in the "T20 isn't that bad really" camp.

RE prize money in the Ashes, not sure, but you can bet Flintoff, Pietersen, Vaughan, Harmison, Jones etc made more off endorsments after the hype of that series than tonight's winners will

By that series I mean 05 obv
