I was just admiring your avatar when it hit me hard that there will NEVER be a player like Boon again in test cricket. What a ****ing legend. I watched him from the early days being an opener with Marsh to the days he blossomed into Boonie and owned the number 3 spot for Australia. I'm going to go and indulge on some Boonie on youtube!Sounds like the Sri Lankan Test team.
Aaron Finch is a about 3 months on the beers away from being as fat as Boon.I was just admiring your avatar when it hit me hard that there will NEVER be a player like Boon again in test cricket. That's not good. Honestly this could be the single worst Sri Lankan side to tour our shores since the 80s. And I don't remember them touring in the 80s.Chameera out with an ankle injury and he'll Keep Kumara company on the way home. SL have now lost 3 of their top 4 pacemen and their best AR. In their own way as depleted as Australia of their full strength.
Boon had plenty of style:Aaron Finch is a about 3 months on the beers away from being as fat as Boon.
I remember Boon being quite a slow scorer... difficult to get out rather than a stylish batsman.. Pujara with a belly. Would have thought guys like Jones and M Waugh would have been emptied the bars more than Boon (spectators not beers). Good fielder too.
The Sri Lankan side that toured here in 1989 was definitely tougher and better than this one. That's not good. Honestly this could be the single worst Sri Lankan side to tour our shores since the 80s. And I don't remember them touring in the 80s.
Star power alone is no longer there. On the last tour we at least had Sangakkara to headline the tour but this time around there's no big batsmen or bowlers that can draw crowds.
Yeah it’s never good when teams lose their better players via injury. Got a lot more strategy for them than I do Australia. Our problems are mostly self-inflicted.That's not good. Check. He [Chameera] actually bowled decently in the practice game too, so maybe he's finally on the way back up to the "almost Test standard on a bouncy pitch" bowler he was before he got injured.
Cue another injury.
sympathy?Got a lot more strategy for them than I do Australia.
This was the time Boonie was the form bat going around. It's also the famous "Waugh Fails" headline test.Boon had plenty of style:
Tell me about it. Autocorrect often changes my cricketweb posts from respectful contributions in a discussion to overly sarcastic/borderline abusive insultsYeah. Auto-corrected to that for some bizarre reason.
