*Official* Sri Lanka Tour of Australia 2019

Victor Ian

International Coach
Sounds like the Sri Lankan Test team.
I was just admiring your avatar when it hit me hard that there will NEVER be a player like Boon again in test cricket. What a ****ing legend. I watched him from the early days being an opener with Marsh to the days he blossomed into Boonie and owned the number 3 spot for Australia. I'm going to go and indulge on some Boonie on youtube!

Anyone know why Stoinis gave Renshaw a serve last night in the BBL game? Maybe there's more to it as far as why he keep missing out in the Test side, **** in a few hats or something.

"In a perfect world you've got someone who can bowl medium pace," Langer said. "Marnus can bowl some legspin. There's people who can do it. But to be honest there aren't too many teams around the world that have that luxury. You've got to be able to be picked on one of the disciplines alone and that's a great challenge for all of the allrounders in the country."

Langer is SOOO into Labuschagne, isn't he?

****.

I can absolutely see why they look at Labuschagne and think he’ll end up a decent test player. I reckon they see the technical basics and most of all the temperament of a test player in him.

But I don’t think we are in a sufficiently strong place to be picking project players to bat three or four.

Stoinis has probably missed out on the test side before this season because his fc numbers have been complete junk. Though I have little doubt he is a complete ****.

As an Englishman.. im hoping for more runs from Harris and Head... hopefully lock in their places for The Ashes.

Chameera out with an ankle injury and he'll Keep Kumara company on the way home. SL have now lost 3 of their top 4 pacemen and their best AR. In their own way as depleted as Australia of their full strength.

Aaron Finch is a about 3 months on the beers away from being as fat as Boon.

I remember Boon being quite a slow scorer... difficult to get out rather than a stylish batsman.. Pujara with a belly. Would have thought guys like Jones and M Waugh would have been emptied the bars more than Boon (spectators not beers). Good fielder too.

That's not good. Honestly this could be the single worst Sri Lankan side to tour our shores since the 80s. And I don't remember them touring in the 80s.

Star power alone is no longer there. On the last tour we at least had Sangakkara to headline the tour but this time around there's no big batsmen or bowlers that can draw crowds.

Boon had plenty of style:

The Sri Lankan side that toured here in 1989 was definitely tougher and better than this one.

The 1988 side though that played a one-off Test was pretty limp opposition, although probably no worse than how they performed at the Gabba.

Yeah it’s never good when teams lose their better players via injury. Got a lot more strategy for them than I do Australia. Our problems are mostly self-inflicted.

Stoinis the likely 12th man lol. Some meme pages are going to have a field day if our batsmen fail
