It makes sense for Australia to drop a batsman. The first choice Sri Lankan bowlers are falling like flies; their attack would be even more benign in the next test.

If Canberra is at all likely to take spin they could well draft Lakshan Sandakan into the side as a second spinner (they should do this anyway at the expense of Dilruwan Perera, who is both toothless and innefective at containing in non threatening conditions, DdS can provide a 2nd spin option if he maintains his spot in the batting order), this would somewhat resemble a first choice attack.

To be fair though the bowlers didn't disgrace themselves, although they only really took wickets under lights when it was zipping around they bowled well to plans and made use what they had to work with well, it was an abysmal performance with the bat however

Yeah but he’s miles behind those blokes. This isn’t like he’s Hussey or Clarke behind Ponting and Hayden. He’s been woeful. Ability or not, there has to come a time where he makes some runs or he goes. We already know he’ll do very little in England - his forward press consists of propping on the crease at best. He needs a score next test or his place should be seriously in question

I think the lack of reverse swing from the pink ball would make overs 20-80 tedious in the extreme unless the pitch is turning. I think the movement under lights is a bit oversold anyway.

I'm going to the Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is pretty much a sellout, Sunday has quite a few tickets still available though.
