Cumming and How for maiden centuries please
Actually they probably have the best chance. Score as much as you can before Murali comes on.

Unless he opens, which he sometimes does.

Less than 500 now. The little steps we take. :D

Malinga and Murali haven't appeared yet though of course.

Well done to Vettori for his 7 wickets and Chamara Silva for that excellent 150*. All I want out of this game is a solid start by How and Cumming followed up by Sinclair, I don't care if the rest of the batsman all get ducks.

He is absolutely correct though. How do you ever expect to have a world class spinner if he gets no help while he's trying to learn his trade? He'll give up long before he becomes anything good because its almost pointless.

I hope the top 5 all get centuries, to be honest...:)

I don't care about Fleming and Astle, they'll be gone soon. But How, Cumming and Sinclair should be our preferred top 3 for a few years to come atleast until the others start putting together some decent scores.

Also I just realised that this was Chamara Silva's highest ever First Class score.

It's just tough luck luck really, we haven't got the climate to produce dry turners and why try to produce them to suit touring sides. Vettori has proven his class by getting wickets despite this and should be given due credit but he knows better than to bleat about it. I bet you wont hear too much more from him from now after getting a 10 for

No no, you don't produce them at the test match level. You produce them the U-19 and the FC level. And then when you have a good solid number of spinners at the test level, then you can prepare some turners if you think it will suit you (i.e against SA).

Producing them at the test match level would be counter productive. You want to produce them where young NZ'ers can learn their trade.

Fleming's got 2-3 more years in him yet. And have you got anyone else to replace him? I know Ross Taylor is in the wings but who else?

Mind you, after 2 ducks in a row he DOES need to find some form

Ross Taylor, Jesse Ryder are the two that spring to mind immediatly. Lou Vincent, Hamish Marshall and Peter Fulton all deserve more chances.

6 runs to get. It's almost finished, I hope.
It is, at last, it was like watching a Chris Tavare innings, you felt you should carry on watching it in case anything interesting happened in the hours it drifted on.

Never felt more sorry for a presenter and director.

Who would you rather have as our top 3, you aren't allowed to pick Fleming, Astle or Styris though.

Other than Cumming, Sinclair and How?

Hmmm...

I'll get back to you...

Edit: McIntosh, Papps & Vincent. In that order.
