It's idiotic to say NZ aren't a better chasing side. It's not all about statistics. If it is so, Astle would be in the side for Marshall.

Vettori thinks we are better chasing, same as Cairns and most of NZ.
Lol what you just said was idiotic?

Mate, you are probably right. NZ did chase the strong Aussie totals and despite only overhauling only once did come extremely close another time.

So it is probably correct.

As for SL I don't think either is going to make a difference. :( :D

Any1 know of any webcasts for NZ v SL??
From yesterday's TV fore cast (on 3 news) - warm and 19 degrees(celsius for you americans :) ) the top If I remember correctly.

So no, Sri Lankans cannot hope for a shower to finish off half the day(after one completed innings) etc.. :D

Right. Typical 'Blaze' comment.

You basically just claimed that because Vettori and Cairns say that we are a better chasing side, that means that we are.

I hate NZ's attitude in regards to chasing. We should learn to do both equally well. What will happen if we make the world cup semis and are put into bat by the opposition. It seems the only reason we decide to chase all the time is because we aren't comfortable with our death bowling. How is it ever going to get better if we don't practice it in these meaningless ODI's?

We probably are suited to chasing a bit more than we are to setting but why make it so that we are a 1 trick pony? We should be comfortable doing both.

I agree we should develop batting when we are sent in or put in first, but the comment made by JASON was regarding that the side who wins the toss will probably bat first which is uncommon in NZ conditions because of the uncertain NZ pitches.

Sri Lanka in a bit of trouble now. The pitch looks fairly decent but there's no doubt the batsmen look a little uncomfortable about the bounce coming from a couple of months playing India on the sub-continent pitches.

Must be said that Bond, Mills & Oram have bowled very nicely too.

Good start from us. Bond bowled really well I thought.
Yes, all the bowlers have started well. But lets not forget the Sri Lankan batting look completely under-done. If fact they have looked awful

Yeah but this Sri Lankan side have been terrible for the last 4 or 5 months. There appear to be serious problems at the top of their order...I think they are even worse off than NZ are right now.

I don't think we are as bad off in ODI's as people make out. We won that tri series against India (and look what they have done since), and lets be honest, we threw away almost everygame in that s.african series after being in a winning position in at least 3 games. And we came within a whisker of beating Aust recently. I really don't think we are that far off the top tier in ODI's. Even in the last 2 years, we have only really lost to Australia and S.Africa. No-one else

Realistically we should be able to chase down whatever Sri Lanka score today reasonably comfortably. Considering Astle is the super-sub, he'll probably replace Bond so that leaves Mills at #11 and he could comfortably bat 2 or even 3 places higher in the order.

Agree, also a great opportunity for Fulton and How to make their mark without too much pressure early in their careers. I'm particularly looking foward to How who I've never seen bat

this game is quite sad really. Sounds like Hows had a pretty good go in the feild. Hopefully we might be able to see Fulton bat but I kind of doubt that at the moment.
