I still don't like Fleming opening the innings. Vincent has played pretty well there in his last few matches so why not leave him there opening with Jamie How with Fleming at three?
I absolutely agree with you. Once we have lost Fleming against the new-ball we can't bring him back. Why not open with Vincent and How? Both are clean strikers, are agressive just what the selectors want early on in their innings.

I agree too. While Fleming has had a bit of success opening, I think we also forget about the number of times he has failed there too.

He's a number #3 or #4 in both forms of the game and I think he looks a lot more comfortable when he can come in with a bit of shine taken off the new ball.

YAY this series is being shown in Australia. I hope Fulton,Bond,Oram,How do well.

EDIT: I also hope they give Fulton/How a few games to settle. Not just one game and gone.

Does our Boxing Day victory last year count as a series lead?
Don't worry matey, you should be able to thump this side even without counting that one !! :D

Black Caps allrounder Andre Adams has reinjured his finger injury and will not play against Sri Lanka and has been replaced in the side by James Franklin.

At least Franklin is in very good form, so it won't be that big a loss although Adams' power hitting near the end is pretty useful. Franklin needs to loosen up his batting technique abit at the international level, and play more shots. At domestic level, I've seen up rack up decent run-a-ball knocks, but when he plays for NZ, he seems to go into a shell.

ok, so with Adams departure, I guess the NZ team would be something like this:

Vincent
How
Fleming
Marshall
Styris
McCullum
Cairns
Oram
Vettori
Mills
Bond

Supersub: Franklin/Fulton

I would like to see Fulton play but there isnt really a spot for him unless Marshall under performs yet again. Maybe in the tests against West Indies would be a good time for him to play

Sri Lanka IMO should play Lasith Malinga at Queenstown. Because he is a wicket taker .
My SL selection -

Tharanga
Jayasuriya
Atapattu
Sangakkara
Jayawardene
Dilshan
Arnold
Maharoof
Vaas
Muralitharan
Malinga

Super Sub - Ruchira Perera or Mubarak

I'm not at all upset that Adams has found himself injured again and is out of the first game. I think that the NZ line up for Saturday will be

Fleming
How
Vincent
Marshall
Styris
Cairns
Oram
McCullum
Vettori
Mills
Bond.

Super sub i think that they will opt for Franklin for the all round qualities. If Marshall doesn't show any signs of improvement in form I definitely think that Fulton should play the next game but for the first game I reckon that Marshall should be given a chance as he is the incumbent. Will be really interesting to see how How performs, I think that he is more than capable to step up to the next level after seeing him bat against Wellington in the recent State Championship game but I thought his way into the Black Caps would have been through the Test side before making an ODI apperance.

don't u think Vincent should open given his recent success at the top? and Fleming isn't exactly in form is he?

Flem should not be opening. He is a number 3-4. Vincent has done well as a opener (in odis) lately so he should stay there.

No but Fleming is the incumbent opener before injury, and I think that it is more likely that John Bracewell will opt for Fleming to open but I wouldn't mind seeing Vincent opening as he has been shuffled up and down the order so many times and looks really good opening at the moment.
