So a probably XI of...

1 How, 2 Vincent, 3 Marshall, 4 Fulton, 5 Styris, 6 McCullum+, 7 Cairns, 8 Oram, 9 Vettori, 10 Mills, 11 Bond, SS Astle

Astle won't play. He is still playing tomorrow for Canterbury and will just fly down as cover for a batsman on match day.

With the withdrawl of Fleming, top order batting should be very interesting to watch. One debutant in How batting with Vincent who can be either up or down in his form, although he has been more up recently than others in the batting lineup. Then we have Marshall who looks horribly out of form, then another relative newbie in Fulton who I am not to sure about. Based on that, I wouldn't be too surprised if it is down to the likes of Styris, Cairns, Oram and McCullum to get the majority of the runs again.
But I could be wrong and New Zealand's top order as inexperienced and underperforming (Marshall) as it is might surprise us all and do what a top order is expected to do and score some runs.

Marshall actually looked good in the 3rd ODI, hopefully he can continue that on Saturday.

Blaze, what do you mean Astle won't play? Bracewell said he could be an option for the SS, which I agree. Would be a better SS than Franklin.

I agree what a joke, why didn't they bring in someone like Jesse Ryder or Ross Taylor to expose them to the environment???
I think that they put Astle back in the squad as they probably want to gradually blood young players not bring a whole lot in at one time, and by the looks of our top order of

How
Vincent
Marshall
Fulton

I would prefer having Astle there as cover as we know that he is a proven performer in international cricket, even though he isn't in the greatest of form currently and he has a vast number of years experience over the afore mentioned top order or the possibles like Ross Taylor or Jesse Ryder.

I think the Team winning Toss should bat first, given the poor records of Team batting second , unless its cloudy or rainy- which seems unlikely based on current forecast !!

are u going to see any matches, Jason?
Mate I live in the North Island . If SL team had looked promising I would have cared to go to Queenstown and Christchurch for this long weekend since I am not working as well.

But I would be stupid to waste a thousand dollars and suffer more pain seeing my favourite Team lose. Nah , I will watch it on sky in the comfort of my sofa , with a few cold ones, to drench my sorrows. (and the added option of switching onto movies if it looked dreadful at any stage !!)

May reconsider going to Napier for next weekend , if things were different ! ( but seems unlikely)

NZ is a chasing side.

Yeah right, that does showup against the Aussies , chased 3 won 1. :D

Go and check ODI records of games played in NZ and you will find Teams chasing have lost quite a lot more than winning. The difference is huge .

All over the world chasing sides have a very poor record !!

It's idiotic to say NZ aren't a better chasing side. It's not all about statistics. If it is so, Astle would be in the side for Marshall.

Vettori thinks we are better chasing, same as Cairns and most of NZ.
