Form is a temporary thing and provided some of the batsman can get into some sort of form things can change quite quickly .

I for one am hoping they do. :) :)
I hope so too! But just wouldn't mind if they took a few more games to find their form... :D

Both Darrell Hair and Tony Hill saved NZ 5 or 6 wides and I am not sure if they bothered with the no ball (bowlers foot steps) either on a few occasions.

LMAO.......you can see the bowlers front foot landing from "rural nz" can you JASON?

Sri Lanka always play like gutless rabble here, the wicket is fin e to bat on....NZ to canter home by 8 or 9 wickets

Oh and what idiot commentator was it that suggested that SL could replace Thurnaga (an already dismissed batsmen) with Maroof so Maroof could help bat SL to a decent total? Nesbit was it? Learn the super sub rules man. sheesh.....do we have to take 11 wickets to bowl SL out do we?

was suprised Coney didnt correct him, maybe he doesnt know what the hell is going on either

Good opening spell by Malinga and Vaas. I know its extremely unlikely, but if they could keep it tight and maybe scalp a wicket or two, is there any chance Murali could win this game for SL?

heh...this game always in the bag for NZ Jono :)

How looks GREAT btw...very impressed

On another note, the Sri Lankans crack me up when they launch into one of their appeals

ie

-ball hits pad-

:-O :-O :-O :-O :-O

"Wassit! Jubba Jubba! Haaaaaargggggh! eek eekk woot woot! jibber jabber! Haaaarghabababab!"

They sound like a bunch of spider monkeys alerting each other to the approach of a predator

It was Grant Nisbett who suggested they replace Tharanga with Maharoof. After listening to C9 for two Tests, I have to say our commentary is nothing short of embarrassing.

Not sure what happened with the wide calls, there were at least 5 which should have been called in both innings.

No you just need good eyes and sharp mind to see bowler's foot steps as they deliver balls, without going stupid about it !

I have to say I was astounded by that stupid statement by not one but several of Kiwi commentators. I did hear Gavin Larsen or someone mention it on Radio Sky Sport Commentary as well.

This Super Sub rule has been in place for nearly a year and these guys who are so called "cricket" commentators , haven't caught onto it yet.

May be Maestro you need to make a visit to the Sky Team and explain it to them perhaps, eh ? :D

Mate, I don't know whether this is really a form slump or more that the Sri Lankan bubble from 96 world Cup and thereafter , has finally burst, and SL heading for a drought (with regard to International cricket I mean)! :( :(

NZ's future batting stars have played a brilliant innings together .

I think based on today's innings by Fulton and How and the promise shown by both, Astle may find it difficult to get back into the ODI side unless Marshall gets the chop.

In fact its a big call , but I feel these two along with Ryder and Marshall will form the mainstay of NZ Teams for the next 5 years at least .

I feel the Man of the Match should have been shared by both, considering How played a crucial part at the start of the innings, especially after Astle got a bad decision by Tony Hill.

You cannot claim originality for that, because you obviously copied it from Glenn McGrath who called Sanath J "a black Monkey ".

** May be Spider Monkey is different** :confused1

** Has anyone seen a Spider Monkey ? What does it look like ?** :confused1 :confused1 :D :D

Astle deserved to get out because of the idiotic manner he was implicating. He will continue and continue to struggle against left-arm bowlers unless he opens up his game. The Astle of old played pull shots to shot leg side balls, now he only wants to square drive it. His 60 yesterday was against a bunch of no-names.

Who to drop for the next game with Fleming coming back? God knows.

Very impressed with How in particular today - played good cricket shots all around the park off the pace bowlers and also survived some typically amazing bowling from Murali.

Fulton also looked good, I was just waiting for him to pick the pace up after he had a slowish start and he certainly did that. Very strong down the ground and seemed to have so much time against the spinners to stand back and slap it wherever he wanted. Hopefully Bracewell is feeling the egg on his face after his recent statements about first-class players adapting to internationals.

The Sri Lankan batsmen need to improve quickly. They didn't have the worst start (I think our first wicket came in around the 7th over) but their subsequent top order collapse of 4 for stuff all when we got Jayasuriya cost them the game.

Not sure what Darrell Hair was doing today - I counted 3 or 4 balls clearly down the leg side that weren't wided.

Bracewell said a few months back that Fulton wasn't ready to play at the international level because of his inability to play the shot ball.....christ does that man say some funny things. Such as McMillan being a floater and how it's not important for him to score runs for the team's sake.

How many are allowed in a World Cup squad?
