Game is pretty much over now.

164/6, still 147 runs behind...NZ ideally want to win this today incase the weather goes sour tommorow.

This will be our first series win in awhile, but right now I don't really care who we get them against..we just need to get into the winning habit again.

Don't speak too soon

Malinga poor form i think more down to his lack of fitness then NZ working him out.

Well Sri Lanka have batted crap so i can't say anything about their techniquies in this match.
Lack of fitness? He's young and bowled 3 overs on the trot at one point. Not so much lack of fitness than lack of consistency. Plus he got carted once the batsmen knew where the susrprise element came from

I never said NZ didn't play well Martin and Franklin have bowled really well add at that to batting of Vincent. But it two way comparsion, one team play crap the other team play really well.

Heavy defeats are usually down to one team playing crap and another team playing really well
That's my point - you kept referring to Sri Lanka playing poorly and not giving any credit to the NZ performance, thus downgrading a potential win for NZ.

Well he hasn;t played any cricket over the last 6 months and when your not fully fit then it is hard to come back for a back-to-back test

What you think Dilshan going to get a 200 and Vaas get a hundred, the game is over

I still think that Sri Lanka are a chance.. I have seen NZ lose from many a position so I am not holding my breath

Im still not sure if we can take it to a 5th day, what the wheather like ATM, will the overs be finshed.

Good partnership from Vaas and Dilshan, adding a bit of respectabilty to the game for us. It will have to be one hell of a partnerships for us to win.

1 wicket to go..should be wrapped up tonight.

Dilshan played well, although towards the end of his innings he was nearly playing every ball across the line, so it was only a matter of time before he missed one.

very dispointing performance by Sri Lanka, i can't see Malinga hang around too long.

Astle outbowls Wiseman and Mills, i wonder what that says about those two bowlers. Maybe Astle sould play in the Kiwi side aganist SA as a bowler. That would slove the problem of bring Stryris back.

Astle has always been a useful bowler. But he's had knee problems which has restricted him.

All over anyway, well done to NZ..it's good that they bounced back quickly after the Aussie series.

It wouldbe dispointing from a Kiwi prespective that you don't have another game until Sep. Some players just started hitting form Vincent, Franklin and Martin and now they have to wait to September for another game

A positive end to a pretty horror season for NZ.

Wow...just shows the gap between Australia and a mid-range team like sri lanka

Australia are without a doubt at least a notch & a half above the other teams..England are probably the only form team at the moment that might be able to challenge them.

I gather now that most of the NZ players are heading off to County Cricket or the upper grades of club cricket in England. I believe that Hamish Marshall is close to getting a County contract too..

Very well played NZ.. SRL were disapointing in this test which was a bit of a shame because they looked quite good in the first test and everyone was predicting a close second game but Sri Lanka were never able to get themselves into the game right from the first over

Overall more negatives then postives came out of this series aganist NZ. Batsmen once again as a whole failed on a ptich that provided assistant to pace. Not much support bowling from Chandana, Maharoof, Kulasekara and Hearth. Jayasuiya was probably the pick of the bowlers outside Malinga and Vaas. On batting positive would have to be Thilan batting in both test, one batsmen that showed he can bat away from home on pitches that provide support. I don't think i will read too much into the batting performances in Napier as they were on a flat pitch.

We were slightly the better side at Napier, but we were no where near the mark at Basin

Congratulations to Black Caps, on a deserved win after a bad season !!
The Toss was a good one to win and from thereon Martin and Vincent contributed to a win !! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Yes, the Toss more or less took the game away from SL from the outset (with the pitch doing a bit ) ! :D :D

It wasn't doing that much, we should of batted a lot better in both innings TBH, Vincent got a higher score then we did in either innings, i think that say it all.
