Don't think anyone said that, all that was said is that they're not tailenders.
If that the case then why did you say in the last test that Sri Lanka tail started from 7, when Chandana and Vaas are clearly not tailenders. Is it one rule for them and another rule for us. 8-) . I was refering more to their abilities to be all rounders, ie in the side for batting as well as bowling. All three are meant to be in the side for their bowling not really their batting.

Actually, anyone can call themselves a batsman.

So in your mind, a genuine allrounder like Cairns or Oram aren't batsmen?
Does that clarify things there Ming.

I think NZ would be reasonably happy even if they got just 2 wickets this lunch-tea session, because there a still 3 big scalps left for them in Sangakkara, Jayawardene and Samaraweera.

Sri Lanka 4/118

Jayawardene c McCullum b Franklin 13 (30b 1x4 0x6)

New Zealand should be able to win easily from here, SL still trail by 200 odd runs

Game is pretty much over now.

164/6, still 147 runs behind...NZ ideally want to win this today incase the weather goes sour tommorow.

This will be our first series win in awhile, but right now I don't really care who we get them against..we just need to get into the winning habit again.

We still have two batsmen at the crease so it not completely over yet. Well it pretty much is but always a chance.

[EDIT} pretty disappionting effect by the batsmen so far only one 50s, ithink that says it all, a lot of starts but no one went on with it. Franklin looks like he bowling ok, well he has 3 wickets. Mills' wickets takes his averages down to under 200, 130 odd i think.

Wishful thinking Chaminda I'd be praying for Rain. :D

it should not go to a fifth day, which would be nice for the end of season for NZ after a horror Australian series.

I saw an article about the last NZ/SL game at Basin and it got me thinking positive thoughts (Article)

Then they batted like they did today, most batsmen got their eye in then got themselves out. Some credit has to be given to the bowlers but you expect better espeically if they get their eye in. They really batted bad this test and given the game to NZ without even a fight, very dispointing.

actually I think NZ batted pretty well - with the obvious Vincent innings. But he got great support all the way through bar Astle and McCullum. Vaas should have received better support from the Slinger - what happened to him? Think NZ worked him out pretty well. Franklin and Martin bowled good lines which on a pitch that moves a touch shows up the Sri Lankan techniques much much more. This game was always going to be a true test rather than a flat track in Napier.

Consider how crap Sri Lanka are batting i very surprised he hasn't taken a wicket, even Mills has taken two.

now now chaminda don't try to take the victory away from the black caps, just because it looks like a pretty heavy defeat is on the way. The black caps didn't win because sri lanka played poorly - if thats what you are alluding too.

Malinga poor form i think more down to his lack of fitness then NZ working him out.

Well Sri Lanka have batted crap so i can't say anything about their techniquies in this match.

I never said NZ didn't play well Martin and Franklin have bowled really well add at that to batting of Vincent. But it two way comparsion, one team play crap the other team play really well.

Heavy defeats are usually down to one team playing crap and another team playing really well

You got to love the way Dilshan just goes after the bowling regardless of the situation. I guess he has nothing to loss here, expect manybe his spot in the side. I wish he could control his aggression from time to time in future matches, especially when we are in trouble.
