Did you take Joyce’s 15 minute plus injury into account?
That would explain why England weren't penalised for bowling their 20 too slowly. Duno about SL though.

Yes, England had 16 minutes for that, and the timings were put back, so SL had to be bowling the 20th by 10.16pm - it started about half past...

No, England weren't penalised because they bowled SL all out - hence that rule doesn't then count (hence I said the silly last ball run out could (and most definitely should) have come back to haunt them)

OK, I hadn't realised that. Seems a strange rule if they took the final wicket(s) after their allocated time though. Still, now I understand your comment abour Fernando. :)

Is strange, but is apparently the ruling.

The TMS commentators were awful. After telling us of that ruling, they then kept wondering why England had 20 overs to bat!

If Joyce is missing some or all of the ODIs, this has to be the return of Rikki, surely?! Potential England side for the 1st ODI:

Trescothick
Bell
Strauss
Pietersen
Collingwood
Dalrymple
G Jones+
Bresnan
Plunkett
Harmison
Mahmood

Bloody hell. :(

Indeed. Surely we need someone better than Dalrymple in the top 6 - preferably someone who can actually score reasonably quickly against the spinners. Cue Vikram?

Or cue Michael Carberry, who is in fine form at the moment in this form of the game.

Go on Duncan, you know it makes sense.

i was hoping that Sl would be able to play 5 bowlers with bandara as the 5th bowler, but seeing as they manged to get all out in 20 overs i think 7 batsmen would be the best path. tough luck for bandara

On Solanki, been there, tried that and not done enough though has he really?

Rikki must be ahead of him in the order.

It was a 20 over game, so being dismiised in 20 overs isn't that big an issue I'd say.

You're probably right about Solanki. Not sure about Clarke though. He's rarely been a great oneday player for Surrey and it's not as if he's done a lot this year apart from filling his boots against the might of Leicestershire. His bowling seems more wayward than ever, tbh.
I'm a bit biased about Carberry because he was brilliant in the one game I've got to this summer. But I see he's at it again againt Sussex in the C&G today. I know his overall ListA record isn't at all special, but in the circumstances we might as well go for someone who's in the form of his life.

Cook's in the squad. Jamie Dalrymple looked absolute rubbish - the shot he got out to was hideous at best, and he bowled with more variety of length and line than I do. It has to be Rikki's time... but I'll be amazed if Joyce is okay.
