***ing Vaas!!! Why can't we get him out??? :ranting:
Based on this test, I think it's because we insist on bowling a whole load of s**te at him. Pie City indeed.

Sanath decision was another poor one from Darrell.

How Darrell was so sure that a ball pitched outside line of leg stump and hit sanath in line with middle stump while he had attempted a sweep and was so far forward, was going to hit the off stump is a miracle and he would be the only umpire in the world that would give it and that too against the likes of SL, India or even Nassar Hussein of England only .
What the hell?

Panesar bowled it into the rough just outside off-stump, in the end it was a good decision - whether you or Sanath liked it or not. Although I have a feeling you'd complain about the umpire giving a SL player out if his middle stump was knocked out.

Murali gone! Monty 5-fer!
Which is all very well, but now they've gone and raised our hopes again ...

I was going to ask when was the last time an English spinner took a fivefor in a home test, but thinking about it, it was probably only a couple of years ago when Giles had that hot streak. Failing that, maybe Tufnell at the Oval in 97?

England have to score at a good rate against Jayasuriya otherwise I think they're doomed. Murali is obviously going to pick up wickets and keep it reasonably tight whatever - but they can't just score slowly at the other end so Murali gets the best part of 50 overs to bowl England out - because he's bound to get a five-fer at least with that number of overs.

Nice bowling by Panesar collecting his first 5 for.
(Though I dont know what impact he will have in Aussie - finger spinners be they left hand or right hand usually have a tough time over there. Still, he deserves to be in the squad)

Turning to the game. I fear that SL for all their gumption are about 25 runs short of a matchwinning total. However, here's hoping they make the over-rated poms sweat a bit.

Damn it I'm getting the will-we-won't-we nerves now even thought the chances of us getting there are minimal. Well done Monty.
