But surely he's missed at least 25 chances in his Test career so far. That's 20% of all the chances he gets, and that's a lot.
There is a table in the April edition of the wisden cricketer rates all test keepers for the last 5 years who have played 10 or more test. Read (8 tests) is in there for comparison to Jones.

Table shows: Matches Catches Stumpings Byes Conceded Runs Batting Average Chances Missed %Chances Taken Overall Rating

I did type the thing out but when I submitted it the thing asked me to log in again and lost it.

It doesn't really do much to back my point of view though.

If Vandort doesn't get much in the second innings , you are likely to win the Tony Greig award for a second week in a row. (whether you like it or not -even if it were said tongue in cheek to spook the guy)

You better hope he makes some runs next time around.
Yay!

The Wheel is Forever
This is shaping up to be an exciting end. If Sri Lanka can match their firts innings total....England will be in real trouble here.

Right now though, they need to focus on ending the day without losing any wickets.

If you take KP out, I would say this England Team is as good/bad as SriLanka. I am surprised that the English fans hope to retain the ashes with this team. ;)

Not what I heard, they said it clipped his body just below the trouser pocket on TMS. I could see why it was given when I saw the highlights on TV.

Plus as they also pointed out on the highlights show Sanga had 2 very close shouts early on that could have gone either way.
Precisely, there's a strong arguement that he was out first ball, but not given...

True, however he is Englands fastest keeper to test 100 catches.
He's certainly testing the patience of a lot of us, that's for sure!

With a seam attack that he's kept to, he's going to get catches.

We don't, because Vaughan, Harmison, Jones and Giles should all be back.

Based on the last 18 months, you couldn't really argue that Vaughan & Harmison would definitely contribute more than Cook & Lewis have done. Is Jones ever going to be fit again? It's not looking good, is it. Obviously Giles would offer more with the bat than Panesar, but beyond that ....

Just as in the winter, the absences are being allowed to cover up for the fact that a lot of players are underperforming. Fact is, without a studendously good first session tomorrow, we are in the deepest poo. And, whether we like it or not, too mnay of our established players have contributed to that by dumb dismissals or inaccurate bowling.

Jason, some how you manage to take away any sympathy people had for the Sanga decision by talking garbage. Its an amazing talent I must say.
I have noticed you keep rubbishing people who do not hold your view and you stupidly believe by using some strong language your view is more important than others !!

And this May I suggest is not the first time you have said pretty stupid things in reply to my posts , without justifying your rubbish ok .

Over the years Sri Lankans have had quite a lot of rough decisions which have been pretty one sided and quite clearly biased from Hair and Harper . Any one who has watched this series thoroughly can vouch for that (with regard to Hair ).

So if you want to have a discussion on this come back and post a decent reply using proper language , other wise pi*s off and find someone else to bite , ok !!

I can see its not difficult to see from where you stand why it was given. :)

The previous shouts you talk about were inconclusive and more a beat up by Beefy . They were ones that would never ever have been given even in FC cricket .:)

Didn't he also miss a decision against Murali later in the game though? I bet Monty was dismayed.

Bad decisions happen. That's not the reason Sri Lanka has been outplayed by India in this series.
Which is why I agree with Aravinda , that Darrell Hair has had a very poor game and not for the first time (particularly involving SL ) . Its time something is done about Hair and Harper officiating games involving SL . Or for that matter performance reviews must find these guys need to be sent off to the next tier and some better performers from next tier be promoted at least for a year or so until they can improve their performance .

BTW Sri Lanka is playing England not India , and Its West Indies who are playing India (different thread ) .
