Where's Gibbs gone? Are they keeping him in reserve for the fifth-day pitch?
Was he not laid up in bed with an illness? TMS certainly mentioned there had been a lot of vomitting.

If so, it could be he's not allowed to bat till the 5th wicket falls, depending how long he was off the pitch.

They do not trust him.
Good point - I mean if he's ill and throwing up it might damage the pitch, and possibly make it easier for Murali to turn it (not sure anyone's done experiments on how much it turns off of vomit, but if anyone can get extra purchase out of it, then Murali can)

Dinu did you see this on TV -

33.1 Muralitharan to Hall, no run, a big shout for a catch at short leg, spins in from outside the off stump, looking to play at that, the ball seems to have taken the edge onto the pad and lobbed up to short leg, turned down by the Umpire.
yep it was an edge.

Six wickets to take on the final day. Come on Murali :)

Absolutely , they are showing what great sporting people they are with their gentlemanly conduct and applause.

Afraid the same cannot be said for a certain South African fan on this forum for his pretty poor comments on Mahela , IMHO.
Just wondering if a more anonymous batsman had held the most coveted record in cricket, thats all.. Surely you'd expect someone like Dravid/Tendulkar/Ponting/Kallis/Gilchrist to hold it?

Incredibly ungentlemanly of me of course though to dare criticize you guys..

At least we're holding our own now. We may even be able to draw this test and not be completely humiliated. IMO Gibbs should have been dropped from the side a few tests ago. (Please let me win the Tony Greig award this week, Gibbs!)

Wash your mouth out, Gibbs is so cool he can play for SA even if he doesnt score anything

Decent resistance from the South Africans (namely Rudolph and captain Prince) but still a titanic task for Prince and co. to bat out tomorrow because no matter how flat the pitch is, when you only have one recognised batsman to come whose also in no sort of form the prospects do look muted.

Yes, you should know by now that that is Jason's job!
Roflmao!

Kudos to the SA side for batting it out, though that was always on the cards given the nature of the pitch and (all due credit to them) Sanga and Mahela's batting on the pitch over the preceding days.

Still, there is one whole day to go and if there is an early breakthrough tomorrow morning then I fear that Murali will probably scythe through the rest of the SA batting line up.
(Its usually all he needs given his habit of picking up wickets in clumps)

I have been absolutely surprised by Dilhara in this match. He has been a revelation and seems to be bowling close to his potential. Earlier I ranked him with the likes of Sami .... perhaps finally he can take over from Vass.

"I have found a new method to avoid bowling no-balls by measuring my leap before delivery and my run up. I don't think I will in future bowl no-balls."

After more than six years of Test cricket, Dilhara Fernando overcomes a malaise

Thats what he said after the 1st innings but during the second innings he has started his no-balls again. 8 in 16 overs so far. He is the only player i know that has been dropped from a test side because of no balls.

A guy scores 374 in a Test , a chanceless knock at that , and you called him a mediocre cricketer !!

As if that wasn't the stupidest statement made, you now dare to call him an Anonymous batsman !!
By SA standards of Match fixing (of Hansie Cronje and others) and ball tampering he may not be Notorious , but anonymous he is not . If you have a problem with your vocabuulary (I suspect Africaaner being your native tongue and English an alien language to you ) , its better you check the words you use before posting .

I know you must be hurting from the SL record partnership , but the fault lies in your Team selections and people who hide away from touring feigning injury for fear their averages might struggle (You know damn well who they are) or they cannot do with another lean patch !! (which would mean they will have to be kicked out for good from your team:) )
But its pretty poor to belittle or down play an achievement which is worthy of any Test Cricketer. (You may take note that not a Single South African has got past 300 in Test Cricket , IIRC ) (Mediocrity and underperformance are not a hall mark of SL as shown by our World Cup win in 1996 and when we knocked you guys out in 2003 !!:) )

Clearly a comment of a sore loser .... especially when Considering Mahela averaged almost 55 against SA BEFORE this match, 8-)
