*Official* South Africa in New Zealand

I don't see why they can't use Lincoln, perfect facilities out there & probably better weather at this time of the year.

There was talk in Christchurch that QE2 Oval out near New Brighton would be turned into a test ground, but that hasn't eventuated yet.

It just seems as though we're having the same problems year after year especially at Hamilton...I think it's time things were addressed.

Looks like Andre Nel will be drink boy as Boje could play as the pitch looks like being a spinners wicket, which means out mate Paul Wiseman could/will play!

A 3.2 megapixel FujiFilm digital camera with 6x optical zoom. Not the best camera out but seems to do the job nicely for photos for CW :)

I must say the South African's are very friendly compared to Bangladesh/India/Pakistan and New Zealand players. Kallis/Nitini/Pollock/Smith were all willing to have a chat and allow me to take a photo :)

And Nitini really is a top bloke :cool2: . I'm going to see if I can have another chat to him at the Basin Reserve but may be difficult with him being in the playing eleven. We'll see :)

Nice :) Im starting a job over Easter.. I hope to get a good SLR job and hopefully get something on Cricketweb

I had a lot of the Saffers when they toured England.. I found Herschelle Gibbs and Makhaya Ntini to be really really friendly blokes... Makhaya was generally making his presence felt all around the ground :)

Gibbs and McKenzie are extremely talkative and will take a lot of their time out to have a chat with you... Dippenaar did some posed shots lol....

I think SA are the most friendly team, although Neil johnson and murray goodwin just came up and spoke to me while they were in Taunton, which i was chuffed at...

However i accidently lost all my photos when i transferred to a laptop... really awful.. oh well..

Can't see a result coming out of this test unless either side bat very poorly.
The spinners may play a part though...interesting that South Africa only included Paul Adams whereas NZ have gone for Vettori & Wiseman.

There's just nothing in the pitch for the bowlers, infact Indian fans could be forgiven for thinking they're watching a test at Ahmedabad or another ground in India.

well....having said that Smith & Gibbs have played 2 poor shots & South Africa are 79/2 just before lunch.

South Africa finish at 279/4....so with McKenzie, Pollock & Boucher still left they'll be feeling quite happy..although really anything less would have been poor considering the pitch had no demons in it.

Kallis was brilliant up until 92, when NZ suckered him out...he really looked like a rock & was set for another century but good field placing & captaincy saw NZ gain some momentum in the 3rd session.

Congratulations to Brendon McCullum and Michael Papps who become Test Caps 224 and 225 for New Zealand.

And McCullum took a great catch today. Best catch I have seen him take.

Rudloph was looking great.

Oram was my pick of the Kiwi bowlers from what I saw today. The times he beat the bat must've been a double digit number.

Vettori looked okay without being too threatening, as it seems he usually is on a slow track. Wiseman was almost a passenger today though, and it seems like Styris now has to earn 2 match fees by shouldering most of his workload as well as score runs at number 4.

I kind of feel sorry for Wiseman, seeing him running up to players looking for high-fives, not realising low-fives and bum slaps are now the way the BC's in-crowd choose to celebrate. He seems like a player who will never quite belong, and I think he needs 4 really good days to resist Bruce Martin's case for future squads.

Yeah i'd say this could be Paul Wiseman's last test series...if Bruce Martin has a good series v Sri Lanka 'A' then he'll be off to England.

The key to this test match will be whether NZ get a good score in the 1st innings...if they do then it has draw written all over it.

NZ's inability to dismiss tail-enders has once again come to the fore.

During this 1st test they've fought hard to take a wicket & then thrown it away with careless bowling or thought in the field.

South Africa should have been out for around 400, but instead they're 450 meaning NZ now need 250 to avoid the follow on.
