Outstanding knock from elgar. Looked in trouble blvs both boult and patel early, but he hung on and has done superbly.
Still don't think its as bad a toss to lose as some are saying. We could have been 22/3 ourselves, and I don't know if we could have survived Rabada after that

Has been a dogged knock, there's shades of Graeme Smith steel about him, even if he's not as effective.

Its been odd how we keep scoring enough runs to win test matches.
You always feel 2 guys are in trouble of keeping their spots and to add to matters we've lost a lot of our next in line.
So all and all, we doing quite well.

Does he look any different a Test bowler to you since his county stint?
For me possibly a slight difference in delivery, but for all intents and purposes the no more effective than 5-6 years ago.

He has scored a test hundred against every test team he has played bar India and that away tour was quite a tester for a lot of our batsman early in their test careers.
He just needed a series where he was a dominator and he got that v SRL and now has his test average over 40. Quietly he is earning the respect as one of the better test openers around.

It was even quite a tester for India's batsmen against some inexperienced/meh spinners. It was a fun series to watch but it shouldn't be looked upon as a normal series to compare with other performances in any way, really.

A lot of left handers in the line up was the reason given for the ODI recall & he got de Kock out twice? Sodhi's domestic form is going to demand inclusion at some point.
