Haha those two balls were classic Jeets. Awesome traditional off spin bowling, beat the batsman both times in completely different ways.. no wicket.
This is my memory of plenty of his bowling in his tour to India too (at least, the second test) - has the batsman not in full control but can't quite grab the edge, or get it to go to hand, or get the batsman to miss one for lbw.

Radio commentary is good. With the professional Saffa commentator plus Wally Lees.

Don't want to **** on people doing their jobs. But the NZ broadcaster commentators (apart from Waddle) these days are really hard to listen to. Like listening to professional time fillers waiting for the next incoming call . I know I'll read the scorecard again
, then I'll use the work "luncheon" or "interval" . No cadence.

I don't know their names. I assume they are radio sport generalists?

No domestic cricket broadcast anymore means these new bread just don't have the hours under their belt.
I find Waddle is relatively well balanced in that he has a chip on both shoulders, but his ball-by-ball stuff is pretty good. Keeps up with things and is pretty accurate.

He must have been doing comms for decades now.

Definitely one too many overs for Patel imo.

Santner up next I guess as it's still too early after his last spell to bring back Boult. Or could give Neesham two overs I suppose.

They often have Turner on if they're in Dunedin, who I always enjoy listening to. I thought they also had Coney?

Yes. It's not those guys who are a problem to my ear.

It's the professional ball-by-ball broadcaster they are paired with. They just don't have the experience. No flow, take too long (too descriptive) on the minutae, don't leave their expert partners enough time between balls to get the tactical and technical points accross.

So even if Jeets might not ever have been world class, it's hard to imagine him not have at least built pressure far better than the likes of Sodhi and Craig did, during those years in which he could've been selected.

That's also on him for turning down selection too, of course.

Yeah he should have absolutely been in the side ever since Vettori left and probably while he was still there.

If you're talking about Malcolm Jordan (which I presume you are) he is ****ing horrendous. Actually comes into his own at Olympics time where he takes over the top to a new level.

Not able to watch but all these not-quites are making me frustrated.

31.5
Santner to du Plessis, no run, drift ensures the ball flies off the thick inside edge off the pad. Just past Latham's outstretched hands at short leg. Definite half-chance
32.1
Boult to Elgar, no run, has he tickled it to the keeper? Watling has put down a chance. Oh, dear. Definite miss. Gift of a delivery. Full down leg, Elgar gets a faint tickle as he looks to flick. Straightforward chance. He got there comfortably but couldn't quite gather it.
36.1
Boult to du Plessis, 1 run, another opportunity missed. Wagner caught napping, again. Faf dabs this to mid-off, sets off for a run. Wagner late to get off the blocks from mid-on, eventually got there but threw to the bowler's end, which was clearly the wrong end. Elgar was ball-watching and would have been in trouble had the throw gone to his end.
38.5
Patel to du Plessis, FOUR, tossed up wide, Faf went through with a drive but could only manage a thick outside edge that flew past short third man

Batsmen pretty comfortable now - Elgar has done the hard work and FDP has been good from the moment he came in. Not the sort of players to give it away either, so this could be a long partnership.

Those missed chances are getting more and more disappointing with every run these two score.
