Finally got around to watching the Supersport documentary series "Chasing the Sun". Some good stuff in there.

Storm in teacup tbh "potentially unavailable players" due to finals of Top 14 seems pretty fair to me. Kinda why the round ball game has set windows that clubs don't play in so players are available etc I guess.

Should those teams of players xyz not be in the final(s) then they'd be available to tour. Be the same if NZ was to tour north in the middle of Super rugby finals I guess, although unlike super rugby, the french clubs actually pay the players, not the national union.

England hammer the Black Ferns in the second round of World XV matches.
Yep, that scoreline flattered NZ too. 7 conversions missed and if England had a fly half who could tackle they'd be even more ruthless. Hard to think of a better English sporting team at the moment (well there isn't), this lot are utterly dominant, that's 19 in a row. And not a single try from a line out maul either, with 7 tries coming from the back 3. Kildunne might just be the best player in Women's World Rugby at the mo.

One sour note though is that if Canada had any hopes of hosting a World Cup they've surely been blown away by the pathetic attendances. I'm really not sure there were more than 200 in the stadium to watch it. Be interesting to see how many turn up for Eng v Canada next week.

Yeah, Canada being good at women's rugby feels like a bit of a hangover from more amateur days and spectator interest was zero everywhere.

It's a shame the BBC only stuck this match on the iplayer, it deserved mainstream coverage. No doubt Twickenham will be a sell out for the World Cup Final next year though and I expect this team will grow significantly in awareness during that period.

At this point RA just needs to dissolve and we take the game amateur again. We'll still have the same players, they'll just have to get jobs.

England grind out a win over hosts Canada to retain the WXVI title.
A huge crowd of 5,000 apparently turned up for this one, to see the now top 2 ranked teams in the world. Yeah, thanks Canada.

Didn't see it (what with it being on at 3am in the UK, again, not the best bit of marketing), but sounded like England had to work very hard for this win, especially having 2 yellows. But they got the job done again. Easily the best sporting outfit in the UK at the moment, now need to back it up with the real silverware.

It's a shame we didn't see Canada v NZ, that would've been a really interesting match up to try and work out who is the Number 2 at the mo (assuming the Irish defeat was a bit of a blip).
Canada beat us in the Pacific 4 series a couple of months ago. A few of our good backs have gone to women's league in Oz too (better $ I think)

Yeah, feels like there's some serious funding going into the English Women's game at the moment and with others going the opposite way, a gap is being exposed (at 15 a side anyway). Not unlike the Aussie Cricketers.

John Mitchell is some coach for a Women's Team to snap up.

And there’s no light at the end of the tunnel as new broadcast deal is being negotiated from a position of weakness

Yep. It's Grim.

In other news I've been offered two tickets to Wallabies v Wales in Cardiff from an old work colleague. Sunday kick off os a bit annoying, going to attempt a train down and back on the day. Expect Cardiff Central station is heaving after matches though so have also booked a backup bus.
