Interesting news coming out is that WWE are interested in signing Robert Roode once his TNA contract comes up. I'm a big fan of Roode's and he has a really solid old school heel type of persona. I've always seen a bit of the younger Triple H in Robert Roode and I think he can be a big star if he gets the opportunity.

Sadly, Petey Williams has also been released from TNA and rumours are going around that WWE are interested in Petey Williams as well. He'd be a pretty good fit for ECW along with Bourne and Noble. Interesting times lie ahead as TNA continues to get worse. Seriously, how long will it be before we see somebody like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels or Samoa Joe in the WWE?

Not very long, I think.

This is fantastic news. I think Roode would be a great fit in WWE. If they can somehow get James Storm as well, they'd be really well set.

Williams is another who would be a fantastic addition, providing they didn't put the Canadian Destroyer on the Banned Moves List.

In my view, if Kurt Angle leaves TNA at the end of his current contract, TNA dies within two years. Their major stars are leaving, they're not pushing their youngsters like they should, and WWE is getting stronger and stronger in terms of storylines.

TNA seems to be on a bit of a downward spiral for now. I'd question their amition if the weren't thinking of jumping ship ASAP.

EDIT: Also, still havent watched the return. Is he a face or heel?

Yeah, you're probably right. Dunno who could make the challenge and afford to lose, though.
Good question. Santino seems the obvious option, but that's a nothing win for Christian. I could see Kendrick being the guy as well - or Henry.

Ideally, MVP would still be on his losing streak.

Christian is a face but has retained his comic side which made him so popular in the first place. How come you haven't seen it yet?

Anyways, this is the best HD version I could find on Youtube. Click the 'Watch in HD' link and the quality is pretty damn good.

I think it should be William Regal. He's obviously not in the IC title hunt any more, but he's pretty over, and has a lot of credibility in the ring. Plus, I can see he and Christian putting on a solid match.

News coming in that apparently Robert Roode has extended his contract with TNA and signed a deal. I'm not sure how long it is for, but for now it seems Roode is staying on board with TNA. He might be missing out here, he has the look and the character that WWE love.

WWE has never liked pushing other companies stars to the moon though

Not sure that's true, but they certainly don't like pushing them based on their credentials from other companies. Big difference between Bischoff and McMahon there.
Absolutely. It's amazing to think that Booker T and RVD took around 6 years each before they won a World Championship in WWE. Booker T was already a 5 time World Champion in WCW and a very experienced performer and was clearly popular with the fans and RVD was arguably one of the most popular stars in WWE for a long time.

It's just silly business really. When you know a wrestler is popular with the fans and will make you money, why don't you drop your ego and take advantage of his popularity?

They were vindicated with RVD when he blew his chance, though. Popular or not, he looked sloppy and uninterested for much of his run.

Personally, as talented as RVD is, I always thought he had "popular upper-midcarder" written all over him for the majority of his WWE run.

Did mark out when he returned at the Rumble this year, though.

Benoit got pushed pretty quickly IIRC, although didn't actually win the title for a couple of years mind you

Yeah, got the actual title shot in the Triple Main Event at Fully Loaded (was actually awarded the title then forced to continue the match in one of the worst finishes to a match ever, shame as it was a good PPV) and was generally around the top guys most of the year, though by the start of 01 I think he & Jericho wound up feuding over the IC again

Tips for tonight anyone?

I'm just reading over previous NWO results on the WWE site. The main event in 98 was:

Stone Cold Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, Chainsaw Charlie & Owen Hart def. Triple H, The New Age Outlaws & Savio Vega in a No Disqualification Eight-Man Tag Team Match.

IIRC, Shawn Michaels was meant to fight in this. Now obviously he was pretty much crippled by then, hence his disappearance from physical wrestling for 4 years after dropping the belt at WM14. But what was the storyline reason given for his absence from this match and replacement by Savoi Vega (!!) ? Can anyone remember?

My tips for tonight:

Raw Elimination Chamber Match: John Cena to win this. The only other guy who could win is Chris Jericho and he won't as he's tied up with Flair, Rourke and potentially Steve Austin.

Smackdown Elimination Chamber Match: Edge to win this. Although Triple H and Undertaker make strong claims and both could very well go into Wrestlemania as WWE Champion.

Randy Orton vs Shane McMahon: Randy Orton to win this and Shane will be punted and another McMahon goes down because of Orton.

Shawn Michaels vs JBL: Shawn Michaels to win this because it's all or nothing. It wouldn't really make any sense for JBL to win and for this feud to continue.

ECW Championship Match - Jack Swagger vs Finlay: Jack Swagger to win this comfortably and to go on to face Christian at Wrestlemania 25 for the ECW Championship.

Look out for a potential Christian promo segment or Christian match between a person like Shelton Benjamin who for some strange reason is not on the PPV card or somebody like Brian Kendrick who also has been forgotten about as of late.

While I don't disagree with your assessment the key word there is "majority" and though I can't recall any specific dates I can recall a couple of occasions where RVD was severely over with the fans and I still think they dropped the ball by not capitalising on it. But ah well, that's wrestling :)
