Just watched fall brawl 96. Seriously good show

Just been chatting to a mate about that. Read an article yesterday 'Ten times WWE threw money down the drain' which was a pretty average article tbh, and I said to my mate, Cena never going after the streak belongs on there (on the basis they used other matches that never happened in the E, such as Hogan-Flair at WM8, on the list). However, I kinda think they might have considered doing it in 2012, but then The Rock came back and we had Rock-Cena. And it drew big. Biggest Mania PPV buyrate ever. So that probably killed it.

And now there's no streak, though I'm sure they could still work a good angle out of it one day if Taker was able to.

Trying to think of other matches that would have been great but never happened for one reason or another now.

I guess Rock vs HBK is the really obvious one. Hogan vs Austin is another I suppose (though tbh I'm not personally particularly hung up on this one).

Bret - Angle would have been off the hook.

If we'd got Hogan-Austin we might have never got Hogan-Rock (though they did wrestle again so who knows) and I think that's why people don't get too hung up on it.

Austin-Brock an annoying one, and Rock-HBK.

Punk-Austin

Straight edge vs Beer drinking redneck. Both geniuses on the mic. Would've been incredible. Austin was long gone by the time Punk came in though.

And obviously Sting V everyone. Taking us back where we started.

Daniel Bryan- Kurt Angle would've produced some of the best matches ever

In terms of pure money left on the table, its either Austin vs. Goldberg or Austin vs. Hogan.

Tbf, I can totally see where they are coming from. When I say "might die", what I basically meant was "might go bat**** insane and/or overdose accidentally". These can hardly be said to be unfounded fears. Kurt's behaviour has become more and more erratic since leaving the WWE too, though he does seem to have calmed down a bit these days.

Speaking of Kurt, does anyone remember that feud he had with Booker T (the one that centered around him wanting to have *** with Sharmell, and that it couldn’t be just any kind of ***, but “perverted ***.”)? Not exactly anyone's finest hour.

He was always a bit of a weirdo imo, but yeah, at some point he crossed the line from being comically intense to...appearing to be genuinely and frighteningly unhinged. Bloke is apparently absolutely obsessed with pro-wrestling, similar to Gazza and football. Worrying.

He's been arrested for various alcohol-related crimes numerous times over the last few years iirc.

Just reading his wiki page, he's one of the greatest ever amateur wrestlers. If he was born 10 years later he could've dominated MMA with that talent.

Someone said Chris Jordan would be good at any sport he played (unfortunately he chose the one exception), but I think that maybe even truer of Angle.

Yeah, I think his mental problems were in the end attributed to the fact that he had taken too many bumps on his head through doing the diving headbutt and so on. Had the brain of a 90 year old Alzheimer patient apparently.

Yeah, it's perfectly understandable. Benoit nearly destroyed the company, so another such incident could threaten the whole existence of WWE, or even American wrestling as a whole.

Yeah on Benoit, I can't seem to remember how big the fallout was? Was it seriously as industry destroying as andy says? Will have a look on youtube etc to refresh.

The E copped major flak for it. Massive scrutiny on headshots and roids and so on. Basically instigated a massive drive for them to clean up their act.
