Yeah on Benoit, I can't seem to remember how big the fallout was? Was it seriously as industry destroying as andy says? Will have a look on youtube etc to refresh.
In one of Jericho's books, he says that it was massive and if I recall correctly, that it could have ended WWE.

It's difficult to watch some of Benoit's matches... Especially that headbutt of his. A lot of matches in the attitude and ruthless aggression era are awful to watch in hindsight because if those insane chairshots and unnecessary blade jobs.

I don't think blade jobs have any lasting damage other than that which is fairly superficial though, do they? Hence why Ric Flair's scalp is about as study as toilet paper, but his mental state is more or less as intact as it ever was.

The reason blading's not allowed any more is just because of the shift to PG, rather than any serious long-term health risks etc... As I understand things anyway.

No long term damage if done right. But if you screw up and cut too deep it can be dangerous. Eddie bled bucketloads in a match against jbl and was drowsy for weeks. Blading in and of itself isn't that deadly but losing a ton of blood and still putting in full shifts of wrestling with no break is completely ****ed up.

I remember him getting booed at the New Year's Revolution PPV where he lost the WWE Title to Edge - I think it was around then it all went sour.

I always liked him too - at the time anyway. Looking back though I can see why he became more or less universally disliked.

Haha, apparently even in 2002 the WWE were still going to try and push him as a maineventer, and began a 1 vs 1 program between him and Hogan, only for them to nix it a few weeks later. That would have been hilarious.

It was pretty funny how during the Invasion angle, pretty much everyone on the WWE side of the roster got a big pop no matter what, but X-Pac still got booed, forcing them to turn him heel and put him in the Alliance

But yeah, anyway, best X-Pac stuff was the tag-team with Kane. Shame they botched the end of that storyline by having it culminate in a really underwhelming tag team match involving Rikishi and Road Dogg, despite giving it months of build beforehand.
