I can't speak for how he'll go in WWE, but he's just very very good and consistent at what he does. he wasn't wrestling in any promotion that has TV last year (WWE, ROH, TNA, anything in Japan) and he got 14 matches in the Voices of Wrestling 100 best matches of 2016 list (which is probably the most comprehensive end of year list around. The only other person who got close to that number is Will Ospreay), which is nuts. It's funny that the only full match from last year on YouTube is the Cody Rhodes one...which is only decent. Hero is great, but he's not that great....

Has Seth started doing it?
Omega has that explosive physicality/presence that makes a lot of his moves look really brutal. Rollins probably can't capture that even if he's doing the same move.

Yeah, a better than average worker with a lot of potential, but needs to go up a few gears if he's ever to be a great.
I like him a lot just ftr, but he's definitely missing something atm.

Yeah I can get behind that, I just don't think it's really his in ring ability that is holding him back. Reckon he'd be one of the few WWE guys that'd kill it in Njpw.

Still maintain of wwe hadn't ****ed up his return in such a big way, he'd be seen as one of the best. They screwed it up so bad, I still can't believe it.

they screwed it up, but it's worth remembering why it was screwed up: so hunter could get a WM match. so it's perfectly believable

Yeah no one wanted heel Rollins when he came back, then they sort of saved it with HHH turning on him but then they pretty much just had him be face all of a sudden. Inexplicably, the redemption storyline has only started in the last month or so.
A lot of people say HHH disappearing killed that storyline, but I reckon it was just having Rollins be a good guy all of a sudden without any real redemption. Should have had him turning down shortcuts and against the slimy Rollins ways instead of turning him into a happy go lucky high flier overnight.

Yeah agree. His ring work isn't what's missing. He's very good (I'd still say he's considerably below a genuine great like AJ though, but that will hopefully come with time).
Like Duffer says it's his character that needs work. At the moment he's just generic slightly angry face.
He's definitely one of the most promising talents the E has at their disposal though. I really enjoyed his run as WWE champ on the whole (despite the horrible TV booking), and towards the end of it he was getting seriously hot. His match with Cena at Summerslam of that year, for instance, was fantastic. It's like he's taken a few steps backwards since then, but obviously much of that was down to his injury and, like OS says, the botched return. Hopefully he can kick on.

Possibly a bit of both tbh.
The sudden change was a bit jarring, but the fans were desperate to cheer Rollins anyway, so I don't think that mattered that much. Trying to build a six month story line around a guy who just wasn't on TV for most of that time definitely hurt things a lot though. Hard to get behind a supposedly heroic figure when all his TV time is basically spent arguing with the main antagonist's wife.
