Strauss's last few innings most recent last:

23 12 0 28 46 18 13 128 4 48 30 16 7 55 30 128 42 (36)

Lots of starts, not enough going on with it.

Tresco similarly:

44 90 21 63 41 65 27 43 33 193 3 48 0 50 0 106 27 0 24 31 16 18 5 (28)

Besides his century in the 1st test against SL, Tresco's form since returning from India is a definite concern. Is there a case for dropping him when freddie returns, and having Cook opening with Strauss?

No.

Why keep an out of form player in the side? He isn't scoring the runs he should be, and can, and I don't think he will return to form by staying in the side. I could, of course, be wrong.

Two blind umpires...great :(

Both Cook and Pietersen should have gone.

Funny to hear Michael Holding calling it from 150 yards away, though :)

It'll take something like this for the ICC to finally get their finger out and allow some more technology into the game.

What the ****!!! That was another inside edge and turned down again. And these two weren't even close! This is ridiculous.   England should be in all sorts of trouble, but instead frustration mounts for Pakistan.

Cook and KP, should be back in the hutch now.

England really riding their luck.

Nazirs bowled really well.

Whats the point of having neutral umpires if they are still biased towards one country? Thats what it looks like too me because there is absolutely no way an umpire could give Cook and Pietersen not out. Doesnt seem to happen a lot when England are bowling. I find it very hard to believe its just chance, especially that last one. there is only one word for it OUT!

No, that's true, England never have appeals turned down. We never suffer from incorrect decisions. We've actually paid off the ICC? How do you think we won the Ashes?

I suppose when Butt was clearly ran out in Multan, that decision never went against England (seems as Pak won by 22 runs and Butt went onto make another...22)

Mistakes happen, deal with it

Ah, the old victim mentality ----> biased umpires making sure we don't win. A CW classic.

Never liked Hair, but it's bad umpiring IMO, not bias.

Anyway getting back to the selection... why Mahmood ahead of Lewis? At Headingley where pace doesn't really matter... Why?
