****ing awful. Bairstow as a keeper will continue to be an issue. Not sure why the selectors are just happy to pretend it isn't. Game over now, they will get 50 to many at least.
Yep, the issue for England is lack of quality bats, not lack of batting depth. If taking the gloves off Bairstow improves his batting even a little (moreso long term) then it is clearly worth it. Apart from the fact that he keeps dropping catches every match my mother could take. Clear isn't good enough. Guys like Stewart and Prior were wooden in their movement early on but they at least caught simple catches. Bairstow's a good fielder anyway, just a **** keeper.

But anyway piss poor selections neglecting fielding and screwing over guys like Borthwick have gotten England where they are now, staring down the barrel.

England are getting a bit crotchety and raggedy. This is where Cook needs to be a leader on the field.

Bairstow should probably have got a bit closer to catching it, but he is standing very close and Finn is bowling pretty quick. We always hear commentators imploring keeper and slips to come in "because you can't catch things that drop short", but you've got to accept the corollary of that - being that you will drop some catches that would otherwise have been straightforward.

Does Borthwick play for Durham?

Only thing left for him to do is hit a match-winning hundred.
I'd rather Root just got his **** together and did it....

Anyway, hopefully we can get Yasir quickly and keep the target below 300, as 300 is doable with the amount of time left in the game, just requires them to stop playing stupid shots like they do.
