England are good enough to beat Australia on current form. Isn't that all that matters?
...It was hard work for me but I received a call before the game from Mohammad Azharuddin and he talked about my batting, stay in the crease - I trust other people and it worked for me."
Not away we wouldn't.England are good enough to beat Australia on current form. Isn't that all that matters?
Fielding has been standard from Pakistan Sub standard for England. But series could have gone Pakistan's way if not for the 2nd innings at Edgbaston 5th day. Played better cricket over the course of the series imo, which was quite unexpected. The predictions before the series weren't that great for them and I am happy they have done well. Hafeez as expected is a complete **** show whenever the ball moves a nanometer. Root and Cook were outstanding throughout the series though, and Root in particular just seemed like somebody who the Pakistanis couldn't seem to trouble. Always seemed to give his own wicket away and i can see him scoring handsomely against Pak in the future as well.Yeah the fielding has been pretty woeful from both sides. God knows what would have been the series outcome had chances been taken instead of shelled.
England heavy favourites for all those Ashes series scheduled in India and the UAE in the next few years.England are good enough to beat Australia on current form. Isn't that all that matters?
I hope so too but don't see that happening. Hafeez is likely to be back for the WI and I can see him scoring big.I really like this opening combination; I hope they stick with it and don't move Azhar back down to three when Misbah/Younis call stumps, although that'd obviously be understandable. If Hafeez is going to come back I think he should bat six (and preferably get his action cleared so he can contribute properly to the side).
They'd have to be favourites to beat NZ now, right?I hope so too but don't see that happening. Hafeez is likely to be back for the WI and I can see him scoring big.
It will be interesting how they go about it in New Zealand. I am not sure if it was Arthur who pushed to drop Hafeez but someone does need to challenge Misbah on this. I love Misbah but Hafeez is not going to work in New Zealand and Australia and it might be worth giving Azhar-Sami some breathing space in a home series against West indies.
There is still a spot in batting side but someone needs to convince Hafeez to bat at 6.
The problem is that it's a really short series. So it's very difficult to pick favourites at this point. One bad match and you are trailing 0-1. Personally I see a 1-1 result. They'd have to be favourites to beat NZ now, right?
Particularly if Amir gets a bit more back into his stride (and he should find NZ conditions helpful anyway). Although Yasir theoretically should be less effective.
Not really seen much hype to be honest. I think most pretty much everyone thinks this is an entertaining side, that is pretty good but massively flawed.Yes, yes and yes again.
I have found it bizarre the hype this team has been getting given we are 3 batsmen short of filling the side with an adequate top 6. Yes we have a lot of very good all rounders but we lack genuine bats. It may be solved in a years time but for now it clearly is an issue.
If we haven't got decent batsman at least pick an average one who can would be a good start. Not sure why the surprise at England's bad catching, it's been a huge achilles heel for awhile, behind many of our worst performances, it's sub-standard, not sure what can be done about it though.
Well I think that was why Jordan got so many caps, How's Duckett, Bell-Drummond, Madsen or Hameeds catching? If we haven't got decent batsman at least pick an average one who can would be a good start.
