i doubt ricky will get 300...although 200s are in sight. from pakistans point of view getting australia out for 400 will probaly the best they can do from now and try to get 300 in second inngins(which i dont see happening) and set australia about 200 to win on a 4-5th day pitch.

I see Danish Kaneria has been fined his entire match fee. I noticed that he and Clarke were having words before he was even dismissed; does anyone know what their beef is?

Punter has been smashing em so its no suprise to me to see him 150 odd unbeaten over night, he has just been unlucky of late, this couldve easily been his 3rd hundred in about 4 innings.. i mean he was unlucky to make 98 and he was unbeaten last match... the way he is scoring his runs is the ponting of old, free flowing, his runs are coming as easy as anyone else in the team, although the volume of runs hasnt been the same... everytime he comes to the crease he scores so freely, simply belting them... has anyone else been feeling this?

i know kaneria bowled alright yesterday, but so far in the tests when he's taken wickets he's had to bowl (in a whole innings) 35 or more overs, and over a hundred runs. I know he's good, but there's isn't a terribly huge amount of pressure, particularly when he has questionable field placings that allow as many fours as the australians hit yesterday, and also because his bowlers at the other end are so poor.

ponting was always going to get this century - keep in mind that he's scored a half-century or better in each of the tests in this series.

Is there anything more demoralising for a fielding team than Gilly in full flight?

Incredible hitting - very close to three sixes in a row, and it almost doesn't seem to matter where the ball pitches when he's batting like this.

And another six brings up his century! According to the Ch9 commentary team, he's just claimed the record for keeper-batsmen in terms of centuries.

And he follows this with another six....

I'm sure if they pitched it full and straight he wouldnt be hitting 3 sixes in a row. A innings is only as good (or bad) as the bowling it recieves.

when do you think the declaration will come? the end of the day? when ponting gets out? or at a certain score?
personally i think ponting wont declare till hes out, especially after his rather poor run recently.

And he's out stumped, jumping down the wicket to try and hit Kaneria out of the ground again.

Very exciting innings tho - classic Gilchrist.

It'll be interesting to see how Watson fares on debut...

I don't think there's any need for a declaration. It's the first innings, and Australia will be planning not to have to bat again, if possible.
