Wow, so they are burning effigies of Bob Woolmer in Karachi, what idiots..

He is one of the most highly respected guys in the game, and IMO the best coach around.. He's wasted in a setup which is not willing to knuckle down, and support him.. IMO he should get the hell out of Pakistan and leave their cricket to rot while it still has the attitude it has.. Im sure there are outfits all across the world that would kill for his services..

Katich has been brought into the side for the Boxing Day test as back-up for Langer & will open the batting with Hayden if Langer is not fit.

I think this is a bit strange. They've been looking to get Lee into the side, this is the perfect opportunity, surely he can get in their & open the batting & make up for all the runs he may conceed. :p

lol would be entertaining, but Katich definatley deserves a spot at the top of the order should he get the oportunity - if lehmann doesn't score runs and katich does it would really put pressure on the spot.

Name one ? :)

His tenure with SA ended unsuccessfully with the World Cup debacle and the Captain who lost his soul to Satan !! :)

John Buchanan, Dave Whatmore, Steve Rixon, Duncan Fletcher, John Wright among others have achieved greater success than Woolmer !! (paricularly considering the large talented pool of players he had at his discretion when he was coaching SA.)
Despite this he had modest results and failed to win the cup in their own backyard !!

IMO he will always be remembered for his failure in the World Cup and his strategies with ear microphones and as a Laptop analyst rather than his modest successes given the talented pool of players he had when he coached teams !! (Until he achieves something substantial that is !!)

Since you have qualified your statement stating its your opinion, I will accept it as your opinion !! Although may not be shared by many others !!

he's got the support of pakistani players and most of the pakistan nation
pakistan fans do get a bit too much frustrated by pakistan losin
but its still early days for bob
im sure hel come out good
but i rather like the aproach of fletcher and vaughn
they seem to give their players confidence with no sacking threats
as pakistan players hav huge pressure on them to keep there place
i say u give them confidence
they are definately more capable then what they are performing

My Pakistan Team:

Salman Butt - looked solid against the Aussies, and scored runs in the tour matches
Yasir Hameed - why hasnt anymore mentioned him as an opener? Hes definately better than Imran and Afridi!
Younis Khan - is in genuine good form lately
Yousuf Youhana - no explanation needed
Inzamam Ul Haq - no explanation needed
Shoaib Malik - has really improved of late, and deserves a spot
Abdur Razzaq - quality allrounder, and actually did decently at Perth compared to the others
Mohammed Sami - no explanation needed
Kamran Akmal - for lack of anyone else
Shoaib Akhtar - no explanation needed
Danish Kaneria - no explanation needed

Also, just for a matter of interest, how well did Younis Khan 'keep in those one dayers against Zimbabwe? Was he good enough to justify dropping Akmal and giving him the gloves, in order to pick another bowler?
THAT is the best test team Pakistan can field. Absolutely .

Totally agree there. Batting till eight, five bowling options, though fielding is still a grey area.

I don't think you could blame the WC debacle on Bob Woolmer.. He turned a country with little recent exposure to the international game into the favourites to win the tournament...
And by "outfits that would kill for his services", im sure any decent county/state side would stand him in better stead than the current Pakistan team..

Dont equate the actions of some with that of the official Pakistani outfit. Woolmer is the coach of the team, like it or not when the team screws he will be blamed alongside other people like Inzy and Sharyar Khan, whether it is his fault or not is completely irrelevant.

Hey, does anyone know why Dish Network is replaying the ICC Champions Trophy on channel 471 and not showing the currect cricket matches. Also will they be showing VB series?

Only on DirecTV, Dish is just showing these to show its subs that they are still in cricket broadcasting (loosers)

Actually away from subcontinent Pakistan have done relatively better as compared to what they have been doing while playing in Subcontinent!
Actually, I should have emphasised, wherever the wickets are bouncier viz Aus, SAF and some West indian wickets. Because I was trying to point out the weakness in Pakistans batting on these wickets.

In any event I am not so sure of their record outside the subcontinent.. Subcontinent means India, BD and Sri Lanka (besides Pakistan themselves). In the last five years pakistan has won away series only in Zimbabwe and NZLand, drawn one each in England and NZLand and lost all three series in Aus., SAF and Windies . in all of the last three they failed to win a single test.

For all Pakistani friends let me reiterate, I am not saying this to run down the Pakistani team. I am a great admirer of Pakistani cricketers and the talent that keeps coming out of Pakistan, but to point out what I see as the one major weakness in the batting talent coming out of Pakistan of late.

They all seem to be great strokeplayers who drive beautifully off the front foot and through the line even to balls which are not exactly pitched up. This is normal for youngsters brought up on true tracks where bounce is not excessive and is true. This gets exposed on bouncy tracks against quality pace attack.
