Younis is one of very few who has scored so far of the tour with a century in a tour match and 42 in the last. While hameed and kamal i think havent played much or at all so far.
Agree. Younis does look a good player, atm I think his problem is temprament.

Exactly. All the talk is about Shoaib shortening his run-up (which I must say I agree with), however if the batsman are wasting time, Inzy should straight up have a nice chat with the umpire and ask exactly what you asked.
Yet there's no criticism of the slow over rate in the first place 8-)

Are you serious? They asked Shoaib to shorted his run mainly BECAUSE of such criticism. Woolmer asked him to shorten his run up as soon as he took over with an eye to the over rates and getting longer spells out of Shoaib. But first the change was requested in ODIs, and longer spells isn't a concern in those, so over rates was the primary issue.

So there certainly is criticiscm of the slow over rates. What there isn't, however, is criticism of Australian unsportsmanlike conduct, namely Langer et al. and their great desire to prod the pitch with their bat while the bowler's at his mark. What's a darn shame is out of all the world cricket teams, Pakistan is probably the best-equipped to "take care" of something like that, in terms of knocking a ball of someone's head at 95 mph. Yet they didn't. It's a shame really.

Bring back afridi.

Here's the team I go in with for Pakistan in Melbourne:

Salman Butt
Shahid Afridi
Yasir Hameed
Inzamam ul-Haq
Yousuf Youhana
Asim Kamal
Abdul Razzaq
Kamran Akmal
Mohammad Sami
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan
Shoaib Akhtar

What do you all think?

I'm a big critic of afridi and have often mocked him and certainly don't consider him test material, however i think Pakistan should play afridi in the next game because he's a guy who can raise spirits of a highly demoralised team.
however i don't think afridi should open, i think S Malik should open with butt and afridi should come at number seven slot and should replace danish.

here's my eleven.

Butt
Malik
Younis
Inji
youhanna
Kamal
afridi
akmal
naveed
akhter
sami

I don't think Kamal is good enough to bat at 6.

Afridi should open, he can do no worse than Farhat. If he actually played his natural game, he could be a Sehwag player, but he tempers himself in the tests and doesn't back his natural ability.

I haven't given up hope for Shahid, he's still got plenty of time to make something of his talents. Maybe some responsibility might do him some good. As Mr Wright said, he can't do any worse than Farhat did at Perth and might add something to the side as far as his bowling and fielding go too.

He might be able to make a score in a situation where no-one is expecting anything great of him.

Whatever they do, Pakistan need to change things up and freshen the team up somehow.

I think you may have confused Kamran Akmal the 'keeper with Asim Kamal the batsman... who is definitely good enough to bat at 6. I don't know why he was left out of the team in the Perth Test.

I find it annoying if the Pakistanis are trying to get the over-rate back up and if some of the Aussies are trying to waste time by walking up the wicket when Shoaib is ready to bowl, I think Inzaman should walk up to the umpire and say "what the hell are you doing, tell him to get ready or let Shoaib bowl?"
IMO the whole concept is stupid and ridiculous. i simply cannot understand why the fielding side is fined or used to be docked overs in ODIs because the batsmen wasted time between overs, calling for drinks and changing bats, or even if the ball was out of shape. is it really that hard to find out which players were involved in wasting time in the game and fine that player?

Yeah, I did. My apologies, I've never heard of Kamal before.

My team would be:

Butt
Farhat
Inzamam - Captain
Malik
Youhana
Younis
Razzaq
Shoaib
Akmal - WK
Sami
Kaneria

Our problem is that we have a WK who is pretty much a tail-ender for my money, which in turn effects our batting and bowling line-ups. Also, there is no reliable first-change.

Beleg

International Regular
Afridi
Anwar
Ijaz
Inzamam
Youhana
Saleem Malik
Moin Khan
Razzaq
Wasim
Saqlain
Shoaib

This team played in one of the 99 WC ODI's and is perhaps the best batting team we have feilded in the last 14-15 years.

Nostalgic, I know. But I guess one can wish.

My team for the 2nd Test:
Salman Butt
Shahid Afridi
Younis Khan/Yasir Hameed
Inzamam Ul-Haq
Yousuf Youhana
Asim Kamal
Mohammad Sami
Kamran Akmal
Naved-ul-Hasan
Shoaib Akhtar
Danish Kaneria

Mohammad Khalil didn't look anything special in Perth, so he's gone. I can't decide between Younis Khan and Yasir Hameed, it probably wouldn't matter. Sami batting ahead of Akmal, because he can at least hang around for a while, and Afridi opening because at least he'll make some runs while he's there...hopefully.

Thinking or even hoping that Afridi should open because he will score something while he lasts, is symbolic of all that is warped about the
pakistani establishments handling/understanding of what is required for test matches. Until the one day cricket and its difference from test matches is not understood, Pakistan's downward slide, particularly outside the sub continent will not be arrested.
