***Official*** Pakistan in Australia 2023/24

I don’t think it matters as much these days as it used to, provided they’ve been playing some sort of cricket. It seems like it’s just the modern player’s lot that they have to switch formats regularly at the drop of a hat these days.
besides you look stupid if you force them to play in a domestic match and then they get injured in it

this avg alone proves that there should be a caveat applied to bowling averages in this era just like we did for those who feasted on 2000s batting pitches

Thakur and Hasan skills are not reflective of bowlers averaging 25 at all
But Pakistan and UAE is a tough place to bowl seam generally

Well how stupid will they look if bowlers get injured playing a Test after not playing any cricket at all for 25 days since WC (Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood & Marsh)

not saying Hasan is trash even if he is in atrocious form and will likely be clobbered here but more a general comment on him not being as good as averaging 25

just taking that 1 series against Zimbabwe out brings his avg down to 29 which is more believable

certainly not as stupid as them getting injured in the shield for sure

im with Burgey on this one, there is enough cricket being played as it already is to not force more workload on multi format players

We're all going along with it but picking Mitch Marsh over Cam Green and just sort of accepting it will definitely go down as one of those things which in future years we're all going to agree was really ****ing stupid.

I will look for any reason to get Green into the side but can't agree with this. Younger isn't always better. Mitch Marsh could have 5+ years of outstanding performance still to come, and he's been looking a **** load better than Green has over the last 6 months. Marsh over Green is a no-brainer right now. Though when Warner is gone it really should be both

But seriously, if you're going to select a guy whose last series against this opposition averaged 119, you may as well pick four pacers plus Agha

I think its more like what Cameron Green could be down the road. Mitch Marsh is who he is right now. He isn't going to get any better than this or going to magically develop a forward defence. Cam Green may be worse than Mitch Marsh right now but his ceiling is higher.

He is like Rich. We all know how good he can be. Mitch Marsh is like Chang. Its all on the surface. And you know who got to be in the study group at the end

Bit harsh on Mitch that comparison. Hasn't tried to take over Cricket Australia with an army of pre-teens yet

You pick the better player in almost all situations and Marsh is it atm. He’s 32 anyways so it’s not like he can’t be in future plans for the side.

Exhibit A of reasons why Mitch has racked up 35 tests in spite of being well below average

Well Camereon Green has racked up 24 Tests already despite being well below average, so well on the way to matching him

As an allrounder Green has had only one good series, the Ashes in Australia 2 years ago (228 runs @ 32.57 and 13 wkts @ 15.76). He has only 17 wkts in his other 19 Tests

haha what? Green's body of work is comfortably in front of Marsh's. His contribution to the side is greater

Speaking of contributions is Green still good to bowl? Just asking cus it's been a while since I've seen him have a trundle.
