I switched off about 15 minutes ago. Just pathetic. You know they won't learn either. This is tough to watch live right now
I would've thought more of an aggressive all-rounder ala Stokes, but I can't remember the last time I've seen someone batting 9 bat like this.
Time to break out the sandpaper. There's seriously nothing there at all for the quicks with the old ball.
I mean that was 10 years ago, and he was doing it with a proper batsman too. Not a #11.
Yeah that's why this is annoying but not a massive problem. We'd have to bat seriously badly to not get a significant lead here, this pitch is so slow and the two-pacedness of it will become less important as it dies more and more.Time to break out the sandpaper.
On a more serious note, Pakistan's attack is slower than ours, and not any more disciplined. If they don't get wickets with the new ball, it's hard to see them getting many at all, unless Hasan gets some reverse swing.
I'm glad it's given Pakistan a total they can mount some kind of defence of. When they were nine down it looked like they were going to get no more than 230, and from 4/40-odd it looked like even less.Yeah that's why this is annoying but not a massive problem. Plus if by some freak instance this does lead to serious issues for Aus, it might cause some actual introspection and analysis of picking the same damn attack in every single game. In particular Starc and Hazlewood who have shown repeatedly they do not have the stamina to back up this many games in short succession.I'm glad it's given Pakistan a total they can mount some kind of defence of. One thing that does worry me is confidence, though. Going from 4/47 -> 315+ will give Pakistan confidence, especially if Hamza can get the new ball hooping like he did at Melbourne. If Khawaja gets a good one early I don't have that much faith in others fully stuck in.Yeah that's why this is annoying but not a massive problem. Frankly I'm not that fussed about the bowling, though I would like to see someone else get a go and some more varied tactics.Plus if by some freak instance this does lead to serious issues for Aus, it might cause some actual introspection and analysis of picking the same damn attack in every single game.
We'll see how the new ball behaves but Melbourne had far far more in it than this doesOne thing that does worry me is confidence, though. That said, you're right it's an utter road once the ball stops swinging. Even with a moving new ball, no excuses for the first session collapse.
