*Official* NZ Domestic Season

I see ND are still well short of the follow-on, but that didn't stop them wasting their most promising batsman at #8 again! 254/8 with Watling 27*.

Sign him up next year, please Wellington! Nevin can remain as our keeper if he wants -we'll tell Watling he's unlikely to get past Brendon McCullum in the next decade and he should concentrate on his batting instead. He'd be a better bet than the Parlane brothers, surely!

What on earth are N.D doing batting Watling below Yovich!? and even Matt Hart who should probably be giving the youngsters a go now days.

It seems N.D have been more obsessed with bringing in baseball traditions rather than concentrating on the task at hand...seems all a bit of a waste of time to me.

yes it baffles me aswell, especially since horsley was dropped because of lack of form at all levels everyone expected watling to open, but llorne howell gets the job, ND are also obsessed with yovich aswell and consider him one of the best allrounders in NZ, IMO he is tripe with both bat and ball and should **** off

I suppose they're telling Watling to earn his way up the order. But considering that Watling is one of their leading run-scorers with 70 odd so far in the season, surely he's due for a rise!

yeah, they want to solve their top order problems and the answers right infront of their f*ucking noses!

The NZ Academy designated Watling as an opener & he showed plenty of promise there in November scoring a century & 3 half centuries.
So surely N.D should be selecting him as an opener or not playing him at all.

This is what annoys me about N.D. They seem to be obsessed with playing players all over the place. There doesn't seem to be any consistent selection in the batting lineup & by the looks of it..they're already panicking after just 1 & 1/2 rounds.

IMO i think they play favourites, when someone plays one or two good innings they suddenly get permanent spots up the order(i.e orchard, yovich), there is also a depth problem in ND which has been made public by the mangement(last season anyway) which i find strange considering the amount of territory they cover(everywhere except auckland from kaitaia down to taumaranui), watling publicy said two days before the first state championship games that he was an opener or number three batsman which has largely been ignored.

So far he's batted #7, #2, #8...any person who's played top grade cricket will know that being stuffed around like that upsets your batting.

Im surprised that they've commented about lack of depth considering so many of the recent NZ U19's came from N.D.

yeah well they actually said that last year.
when players were not performing they complained "there's no one better to pick", TBH they said that lack of depth wasn't actually a problem for them anymore, the reason why i brought it up because the season seems to be heading the same way as last year, they have tried to do what they couldn't last year by actually dropping out of form players(horsley, robinson) but it doesn't seem to be making too much difference, the best they can do is give those academy fellas a shot and have no regrets come end of season.

there are player profiles, when on the match archive where it shows all the various years, at the top right hand corner of the page click on players, it even has under 19 'test' and 'odi' statistics.
yep got those - but only got a stats report - what I'd like to see is a profile rather than just a list of stats.......

oh yeah i thought that was a bit disappointing too, maybe they will add it in the future

So who would make an NZ A team - designed to bring young players through seeing as certain provincial teams appear to be doing their best to thwart their talent.

So Sherlock seems to have done a Bond to his back then?

What are people's views on Bond making it back to the national side for any decent amount of time? Are there any stars of the future out there?

Richard Rash

U19 Cricketer
Noone can really make a prediction on Bond because only he himself knows how his back is feeling and all we can really do is have our fingers crossed for him.

As for new stars i don't see any out there at this stage especially with Sherlock injured.. No fresh spinners either. It's all looking pretty bleak i rekon.

Hopefully it is not the only opportunity How has at breaking the record. I think people would shoot Bracewell if he didn't select How for the test team now.
