Menzies isnt good enough!!!
are you crazy, when hes in form he is one of the best back rowers in the premiership, not to mention hes 2nd on the ist for most tries by a foward in League history.
your very right. i meant to say, that manly rely to heavily on menzies. they don't have enough players like him and they wont amount to much in the next few season until they have more players like him. menzies can't have many seasons left in him anyway?

and dam, blewy dam. in the picking comping i'm in i got 2nd highest for the round.

well, I'm in second place. from 103 games this season i've picked 59 winners, and 25 margins (win = 5 points, margin = 3). if i win, i'll be $1000 richer. here are my picks for this week.

Panthers over Tigers
Knights over Rabbitohs
Dragons over Sharks
Eels over Cowboys
Warriors over Storm
Roosters over Raiders
Broncos over Bulldogs

My tips this week
Penrith, they really need a win after 2 losses, but the tigers should compete for 60 minutes with penrith comming home he stronger.

Knights, they should thrash Souths, send em to the bottom of the table where they belong.

Dragons, i think they'll beat an improving Sharks team, Dragons best players are playing well and they should win in a high scoring game.

Cowboys, they are due for a win and they always play well against Parra, i think they can win.

Storm, Warriors really are struggling and storm have impressed me and i think they can win across the tasman.

Raiders, the way they play upsets the roosters, if raiders play well on the day they'll get the cash.

Broncos, form team of the comp will win the top of the table clash.

Mister Wright Tips for round 8

Season tally: 30/50

Panthersv Tigers

Panthers have lost two on the trot, but they have been against strong teams. Tigers are better than last year, but they didn't have the game wrapped up against Manly until the last 20 minutes, not a good sign going in against the premiers.

Knights v Bunnies

Both teams weakened by injury and poor form, however the Knights have too many classy personel to lose to the unsettled Bunnies.

Sharks v Dragons

Sarks are getting better, but the Dragons have finally found some consistency. Their defense is probably the best in the competition at the moment and I don't think the Sharks have enough in attack to get through the Dragons defense. However, in saying that if Kimmorley and Peachey get it together they could be a chance. I actually think the Dragons may win by 30+

Eels v Cowboys

Tough one to pick...I'm going for the Eels because they are at home, but the Cowboys have a good record against the Eels. The Cowboys are yet to settle on a half pairing in that is not helping their cause.

Warriors v Storm

Warriors have been pathetic and the Storm have been one of the better teams in the last two-three weeks and I think they can handle the trip. Doesn't help the Warriors cause that they are coming off the bye.

Roosters v Raiders

Roosters - JUST. The Raiders are without Wiki but get Crocker back. Shifcofske will be fired up after being a surprise omission from the origin squad. This is one the Raiders can win.

Bulldogs v Broncos

Broncos are the best team in the comp, and will win easily in my opinion. Last time the Broncos travelled to the Showgrounds they pelted the doggies 24-0 and I'm looking for a similar score line. Broncos are red hot and it is a gamble for anyone to tip against them. How this game did not get the Friday night slot is beyond me!

My tips this week, after last weeks perfect round....

Tigers, This game is one im looking forward to, Even though i never tip against the boys, this is one i know they can win.. The pressure is all on the Panthers, Nobody expects us to win, and they have been pretty ordinary the last few weeks.. This IMO is our strongest side all season, with a very strong bench.... The Boys are fired up for a big one...

Knights, Um no comment needed Knights by LOTS!!!

Dragons, Dragons IMO are the most dangerous side in the comp ATM, I would not want to be facing them especially when you need to win, As the sharks do...

Eels, Both sides have been ordinary, however the eels have looked the better of the 2, they have been in a winning position in most games but always find a way to throw it away...

Storm, Warriors are only going to be worse off for the Bye, They need match-time to get better and despite some of them playin in the test it wouldn't have helped the team harmony...

Roosters, Raiders have been struggling, and i think at home the roosters will be to strong as they continue to get players back...

Broncos, In a game that could go either way, i think the Broncs will get up in a close one on the back of Locky.

You put up a good case for the tigers blewy, but i think its a lost cause!
Id be pretty surprised if they win tonight, but i do agree this looks like their strongest side of the season, im looking foward to seeing them on friday night footy in front of a big crowd, im use to watching them play souths at the sfs in front of 6,000!

Mate all ill say is don't underestimate them, i spoke to Dene Halautau at a function yesterday and they are extremely confident.. As for looking forward to seeing them play nobody is more then me i can tell ya..
Funny thing, i was going to go, but its my cricket presentation tonight and had already paid my money so im going to the Pres which starts at 7:30 but am walking out the door at 8:30 o go downstairs and watch the boys go round... Not getting any awards anyway...

But back to the game, ill tell ya, if they have a sniff they will take it...
Scott Prince looked back to his best last week and he could be the key, as well as Satts and Elford who are up against their old club for the 1st time...
Another tip, Jason Moodie for 1st tryscorer, @ $12 he is a top bet, considering 4 out of the tigers last 5 games he has been our 1st man over the stripe....

hmm for mine this could go either way, Bulldogs aren't in great form but still seem to be winning games, should be in a pretty good mood this week after the the announcement of no charges, big Willie Mason will br fired up for sure. Can lockyer pull the broncos over the line

Well the Tigers showed they can match it with the big guns, The 8 doesn't look so far away now....

they played ok, both teams dropped a lot of ball and the ref was determined to blow the pea out of the whistle, it was a frustrating game to watch, the first 20-25 minutes was good, but it seemed to hit a patch and never recovered.

every small team has their moments against the big guns. if they can match in on a week to week basis, then the playoffs might look closer. dam warriors, dam

cowboys got up tonight, im 4/4 this round so far, albeit it 3 easy picks in penrith, knights and dragons. Dragons are really worrying me, i see them, melbourne and canberra as the ones most likely to stop brisbane form winning the comp.

Canberra vs Brisbane at Bruce next sunday is gonna be a massive match!

5 out 7 in the nrl for a grand total of 10/13 in my picking comp. only one round left, i wonder if this rounds efforts are enough for me to charge into the leader!?!?!?!!?!

hahaha. so much for melbourne!!! i think things might be on the turnaround here in auckland. the team looks to have gotten all its shizzle together and finally we might be in the running...

melbourne couldnt hold th ball, they finished with a completion rate of under 50%, warriors were up around 80%, and after that storm still had a big chance to level the match in the last minute, i dont think that match was a sign that things a getting better for the warriors. If storm had of played 10% better they would have won.

Brisbane to struggle now with Locky looking like being out for a few weeks...
possibly, but not neccisarily true, we really lifted against canterbury when lockyer went off, hes likely to be out for 4-6 weeks so we are gonna have to find someone to replace him. Casey McGuire is a good player but not a starting 5/8.
We have 2 options, give young Berrick Barnes an early call up and move Seymour to 5/8, or recall Ben Ikin. I think hes over an injury he had a few weeks back and is an outside chance of a recall.

I agree Simon. I thought we were going to get thrashed when Lockyer went off. But we were actually the better team for the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half. It was surprisingly our defense that let us down - in particular Corey Parker. Seymour really lifted with Lockyer off, which is an encouragin sign. I tip Ikin to come back, we need the experience without too much shuffling of the side.
