Mat Head needs to work a lot on his defence before he plays rep football. However, his attack is as good as any halfback besides Johns.

Yeah, I reckon he's a better halfback then Kimmorley & Orford. It should be between him and Gower for the origin spot if Johns is not forced to play.
Whatever his still got a long way to go before his better then Orford. He is better then Kimmorley, but who isn't, Dykes should still play at halfback when he comes back and Kimmorley should be either 5/8 or off the bench.

Head is a better player than Orford. Orford might be the better player week-in-week-out, but that is only becuase Head suffers so many injuries. If Head were able to get on the park every week of the 26 week season the Dragons would have less problems and be more consistent.

I might so far as to say we would have won the comp. We did pretty well for a team without their regular halfback.

Head is still working on his game, overall Orford ATM is a better player. But in saying he probably will be a better player in a season or two if he stayed on the field.

Some interesting developments on the news last night...

* Barrett likely to announce a deal with Wigan today...
* Jamie Lyon HIGHLY LIKELY to return to Parra next year..

The Dragons will now have an interesting time on their hands.. Will Barretts move be the Piece that tips Gasnier toward Union, Will Matt Head go on the open Market(He says he wants to play at a club with a top class 5/8).. The Dragons IMO have their last chance to win a title this year, if they dont, it could be a while before they get another crack...

As for Lyon, it will be interesting to see what happens here. On the news last night they spoke to Hindmarsh, He did not seem overly fussed that Lyon would be back at parra, apparently the players were very unhappy with him when he left and then took up the BIG deal with St Helens, Could be some tense moments if he does come home..

My ****. He'd have to either have no brains or be offered more than Wigan can afford to even think about it.

Well apparently its a done deal... Id assume they'd be offering ridiculous amounts of money, cause the dragons would be offering him a fair bit..

Considering Wigan are running last and could possibly get relegated (Not sure if it will happen), its definatley an interesting decision..

Personally i hope Wigan do get relegated cause from what i hear, if they do Patty Richards could well return to the Tigers if they do..

Barrett wants to go to Wigan because they are a traditional powerhouse, he says its always been a dream for him to play there, he was apparently making calls to other off contract players over the weekend trying to convince them to go to Wigan as well so they have a better side...

Parra can have Lyon, everyone hates him anyway, it will take him a while to adjust back to the NRL imo...

Orford sucks, id rather have Owen Craigie playing halfback for my team than Orford...

Looks like Luke Swain will be a Titan next year after being given permisson to negotiate to other clubs before June 30.

Would be a good signing.

All good and well for him to rally players to go to Wigan next year, but if they get relegated this year they will be playing 2nd Division Football.. Im sure plenty of players will be willing to take that risk..

NOT...

Didn't David Peachey face that same situation where he was going to join Widnes if they stayed up, but if they went down (I believe they did IIRC?) his contract was then cancelled? Not sure what club he is at now though.

Barrett would probably have the same clause in his contract, but it would be funny seeing Wigan go down and see Barrett running around in National League 1 or he is without a club and his beloved Dragons can't take him back because they used his money to go and sign other players (including Gasniers if he switch's over).

Peachey is playing National League... He stayed with whoever it was he signed with...

From what i've heard, apparently all contracts become void if they get relegated.. Not sure if this is right maybe Steds could clear it up... Apparently thats why there is talk of Richards coming back to the Tigers if they get relegated...

It would be good if Wigan get Barrett. They are my fav super league team, and they really need a decent playmaker.

Well you got your wish...
UK-bound Barrett rules himself out of Origin

St George Illawarra captain Trent Barrett has ruled himself out of the State of Origin series after announcing he'll join English club Wigan after the NRL season.

Barrett has played seven times for NSW but says he'll step down from all representative football immediately as part of his agreement to sever his contract with the Dragons. The 28-year-old five-eighth has exercised an option in his contract to leave the NRL for a Super League club despite having two years remaining on his current deal.

The veteran of 142 games for the Dragons, Barrett will join Wigan on a three-year contract.

So who plays 5/8 for NSW then?

Braith Anasta or a Scott Hill who can't make the Melbourne Storm 17 for two weeks in a row?

Well at least there is one thing Queensland has over NSW is in the halves.

Either way it will be for Queensland

6. Lockyer (c)
7. Thurston

or;

6. Lockyer (c)
7. Prince

Which is a lot better then what NSW will put together.
