that site is pretty much spot on, surprised Thaiday missed out but he'll get his chance...

You're kidding. Hunt in front of Inglis and Hornby? Maitua in front of everyone? Two worst selections in recent times.

Inglis is there, just because hes named on the wing doesnt mean he will spend 80 minutes there, i like how versatile our backline is, everyone can play a number of positions and will probably interchange throughout the match.

Thurston or Hornby was a tough call, Thurston was the form half for most of the year and was the incumbent, he got through the match for the cowboys in round 26 and then for the PM's XIII against PNG so he was always a good chance.

Maitua probably pretty lucky to get picked but again hes pretty versatile so it just got him over the line.

Totally agree. Both pretty predictable sides.

Thurston above Hornby obviously.
Thurston was always going to be picked at halfback if fit. Hornby was compteting with Berrigan for a position on the bench. And Berigan was the Clive Churchill Medalist, so...

LOL! Ahead of Hunt, Hodges and Inglis?
Preferences for fullback:
Inglis
Hornby
Hodges
Hunt

And Wright, I agree with Berrigan ahead of Hornby as the bench player.

How can people say Hunt doesnt deserve it?? Get over the fact that he is now and Aussie and not a kiwi... The guy is a Premiership winning Fullback who is the incumbent Test Fullback.. The only other guy who IMO should be in front of him is Inglis but like has been said he is there on the wing and IMO will chop and change with Hunt during the game...

To suggest Hornby be at Fullback is the funniest thing i have ever heard.. Hornby is there as the 2nd Half, nothing else.. If by some odd chance Inglis/Hunt/Hodges all go down injured then he may play Fullback but other then that he wont...

A good side.. and personally i like Maitua in there, he is a good player and even though he may be lucky i would have had him in there myself..

BARNES OUT
The fact that Hodges is such a destructive centre shouls have him automatically there, IMO. Tough **** if you want to fit Cooper, Gasnier and Hodges into the centre's, Hodges is better than Cooper.

The point is pretty moot anyway, if Minichello was fit none of them would be there.

That's got nothing to do with it, I don't care who he chooses to play for.

Hodges was fullback IIRC.

Hornby was chosen as a utility, meaning he was picked to cover fullback, 5/8, halfback, hooker, and the bench spot. Seeing as he most often plays fullback for the Dragons, it's not that outrageous to say that he's my second pick of the possible fullbacks in the Australia squad.

Personally i rather have Hornby at fullback over Hunt, but im sure whoever is there will do a good job. Im actually glad that Maitua in the side, it could have been worse they could have picked Tupou, but Thaiday is unlucky to miss out.

I really do wish the NZ media will stop having a cry over 'kiwis playing for Australia and not New Zealand. That is getting beyond hypocritical when they go and pick Brent Webb who was about as New Zealander as Simon Jones is English (he might play for them but we all know he is Welsh) and Nathan Fien was only looking to play for New Zealand on a technicality when he realised his Origin chances were similar to mine.
