I wasnt tht impressed with the bulldogs, they certainly havent lifted the way the Brisbane, Dragons, Knights and Manly have for the finals...

presuming Melbourne win i think these players will be added to the train on squads
Australia
Canberra: Alan Tongue, Troy Thompson and Phil Graham
Eels: Nathan Hindmarsh, Jarryd Hayne and Eric Grothe

Melbourne were crap, Brisbane v Dragons grand final coming i feel...
Yeah, was a surprisingly close score.

I wouldn't take Broncs beating Newcastle for granted either or Saints/Manly if it comes to that.

Newcastle with Simpson, Buderus and Thaiday still out we will win. Gidley cant play two good games in a row.

Dragons were great yesterday, they are my premiership favourites, should dispose of Manly and then Storm i think...

For me the pick of the Round were Manly and the Dragons..

Manly IMO are the real darkhorses and they are my tip to win it now...
St George were good BUT we know they always manage to bring out the Oki Chokie...
Storm were nothing special against a pedestrian Parra side..
Broncos were good BUT still cant find a win in Semi final football and it has to be playing with their mind..
The Dogs did nothing to impress me either However that game has me a little confused.. Im not sure the form from that game will be much to hold up on.. The weather was atrocious and just to get through with the win was all they needed...
Newcastle won, BUT i think they were very very lucky.. With Buderus GONE, Simpson likely to be gone im not 100% sure but, I think they could pull a surprise.. I think they WILL beat brisbane and they could sneak into the GF but im not sure..

My tip after week 1..

Manly

It was an off day, doesn't prove anything.

I think they were a tad complacent in thinking that all they had to do was turn up and win, but clearly that wasn't the case, even though they did win. So hopefully it will be a notice to them to pull their socks up for their next game, mind you Inglis should be back.

It was in the paper (probably in the Daily Telegraph as well since they are the same thing) today that John Ribot said for Brisbane not to laugh off the rumours about Wayne Bennett and to treat them seriously, as he left Canberra with a year left on his contract to coach Brisbane and he might be one to enjoy a challenge again. He did say later on though that he would be very surprised to see Bennett leave, but more so of to expect the unexpected. I guess this was refering to the fact that Bennett hasn't actually denied it (but if it were the case of football or soccer and when somebody denies it, it means that they are going),

Dire. I don't know if I can actually tip any one team at this stage, but Manly wouldn't be it if I did.
Why? From what i seen from Manly they showed passion, they answered the questions that were asked of them, Their online defence was superb... They had hardly any chances in the Newcastle 20 in that 1st half and were running against a strong wind, whilst newcastle had the complete opposite and yet Manly were in front 12-0...

With Ben Kennedy in charge and Matt Orford coming into his own i think they are the real Danger...

They showed a couple of weeks back against Melbourne that they are a force and i see no reason why they can't do it..

Dragons have the most dangerous 5th tackle options in the competiton. The Broncos defence was awesome Saturday night for the first 4 tackles, but couldn't hold the Dragons out on the 5th.

I'm not willing to cut the Broncos chances for '06 yet. They showed enough for me on Saturday night to show they can go all the way, just need to tighten up a few things, like Tate's defence and we'll be right.

they will still win without him...

no raiders in the Australia train on squad, Alan Tongue should consider himself slightly unlucky...

If Shifcofske didn't sign with Union I think he would have been a big chance, especially considering he was named Daly M fullback of the year.

Buderus likely to miss the rest of the finals series and a few games at the start of next season (because he's sitting out Tri-Naitons) with a possible 5 match ban after being charged with a grade three dangerous throw.
and rightly so, thats a massive blow for the knights...
