Wiseman bowled 'okay' but i think he wont be consistent enough with his line tomorrow.. i still dont rate him that high in my books.. and i cant believe he is our 2nd best spinner.. i should really make my debut in a 2 years or so -seriously speaking, if he is rated that well..

I don't rate him either Lord but he has a good record against Aus and they do tend to have a few problems with fingerspin.

There is no inncentive for domestic players to bowl spin as they won't get much of a bowl with the green wickets that domestic cricket is consistantly been playing on.. Add to that the fact that Dan Vettori has the main spinning role tied up for the next 10 years or so it doesn't encourage young players to want to bowl spin.

IMO they should be looking at Bruce Martin before Wiseman. Especially against Aus as he also bowls left arm orthodox like Vettori and could be successful IMO

yeah he didn't seem to threaten much, certainly doesn't look anywhere near as dangerous or as accurate as vettori

Who would you rather have in the side Chris Martin, hardly any wickets in the series or Wiseman?

Wiseman is worth having in the side simply because he's harder to score off than Franklin and Martin... let alone O'Brien. Wiseman and Vettori can race through the overs and probably go for comparitively few runs, and if the pitch is taking turn I'd rate either of them more likely than the seamers to get wickets against the Australians as well.

Hopefully (from a NZ point of view)...Fleming opens with Vettori and Wiseman in the morning so Aust don't get away early....which also means saving Martin and Franklin for the new ball (around 15 overs away) if the spinners don't work.

Dead Right Blaze !

Btw whats the spin talent we have in our domestic scene lets see.. Vettori,Wiseman,Patel(?),Haslam,Walker,Morland,Martin..
im guessing our 3 in order would be Vettori,Martin,Walker/Wiseman?

and so today we have seen the difference between a settled & confident batting lineup (AUS), and one that is trying to find it's feet & form (NZL), as well as a fine example of Waugh's 'advance the game' theory.................

an ominous sign with an AUS ton at the top of the order - so far this series it's been the middle & lower order that has done the damage - they're getting in early this time.................and they've been scoring them in pairs.............

I wonder how many matches they've been scoring at least 1 ton in an innings - let alone multiples...............signs of a productive & consistant batting lineup..............

and we know they score them from #1 - #7....................

I think that is pretty much it although Nathen McCullum also bowls off spin and isn't Aaron Redmond a leggie? Glen Sulzbergur (sp) also bowls off spin I think and has played for NZ. and I think Englefield bowled spin in the past but has given it up to concentrate on his batting.

Norlan has retired, only plays club cricket now.

McCullum is Otago's senior spinner, but his future is likely to be a batsman who bowls. But watch out for Will Somerville who made his debut in Otago's last game. He is a big tall offie.

It's lunch now, right?? And Gillespie is on 35*. Isn't there a slight possibility of him getting a third half century?

Haha Katich's dismissal was such a Gilchrist shot. I wasn't aware of who was on strike, and when it went skyward I went "Sh*t! Bugger! F*ckcraphell!!" until I realised it wasn't Gilchrist who got out. :D

Dodged a bullet there. Thought we'd had one nipped in the bud! :(
