**Official** New Zealand v Australia

Mr Casson

Cricketer Of The Year
And with Warney gone and no Gillespie in the bank, it's time for some Gilly magic.

And I'm getting bloody sick of having McGrath at 11! I reckon if he wasn't last he wouldn't be so indecisive at the crease. He needs a chance to play his natural game!

Dizzy #4

International 12th Man
Crap, Gillespie had his value added, Can Gilly make runs and will McGrath score runs without the help of Dizzy?

After being up against this relentless pressure for the last 5 tests against Australia. You'd have to think NZ will find it relatively easy against Sri Lanka particularly without Murali.

Gillcrest does push hard, and the ball gets a good sizable chunk of his bat when he edges. Fleming should have another catcher, perhaps a floating 4-5th slip position, deeper than the usual slip position.

Anyway, great comeback by NZ. We need to make sure the Aussies don't get a lead of over 50, bat throughout day 4 and get at least 300 to bowl at.

This will be hard to do considering our recent ****-poor efforts with the bat when placed under any pressure, and the fact that there will be considerable movement in the air this afternoon because of the latest rain..............but it is possible.

Australia have been 4-150,5-200 alot in this test series. If we can reduce the Aussies to this chasing a reasonable target then it's all on!

Maybe. It really depends on how recovery from injuries and so on goes with regard to the New Zealand bowling attack. I can't see the likes of Wiseman or O'Brien being very effective against Sri Lanka on flat wickets, so it comes down to how well Martin and Franklin bowl, and whether or not Bond and Oram return from injury well. The best bet for New Zealand is to prepare seaming wickets, but unfortunately I don't think that's likely to happen.

My point is quite simple...Batting will be easier (not as relentless) regardless of how well the Sri lankan seamers bowl and Bowling will be easier (in terms of margin of error) for the bowlers.

I'n not suggesting the Sri Lankan's are bunnies and I acknowledge they have some fine players....Jayasuria, Sangakara etc etc, but remember NZ bowlers have had 5 tests in a row against Ponting, Gilchrist etc and NZ batsmen have been facing Gillispie, Mcgrath , warne and Kaspa on top of there game. It certainly won't get harder :p
