50 years ago to this day NZ were bowled out in the 2nd innings by England for the record low total of 26.

At 11-2...I do hope the omens stay away

From 3 innings, batting at no 8 twice!!
and whats more he's been extremely unlucky all summer with umpiring decision and the way his miscues always find the fielders. He also doesn't seem to play and miss, but instead is so unlucky he normally edges straight to the keeper.

Hopefully for him his luck will turn around on him and umpires won't be so hard on him

McGrath was really menacing in the short spell before stumps. The ball was doing a fair bit off the wicket as well... if that keeps up tomorrow New Zealand are going to have all sorts of problems setting Australia any more than 100-150.

Gilchrist in this series:

343 runs from 334 balls @ 171.5, SR 102.69, 44x4, 12x6

Yep. And how about this...

Gilchrist in the Australian summer since returning from India: 749 runs @ 107.00 with four centuries and three fifites, from 8 tests and 9 innings.

This calendar year as well, he has scored three centuries and a 60 not out from four innings.

Mate, Aussie media and cricket pundits and the cricket hierarchy have worked long and hard (over several years ) to bring about this change in Umpiring behaviour !! :D :D

Now it has become established Umpiring behaviour in close decisions - the benefit goes in favour of Australia almost all the time.

Likewise when it comes to issues like bad light etc. and other such umpiring calls. You should learn to get used to it without complaining about it !!

The English must be shaking in their boots already with the form Gilchrist, Ponting, Martyn and the bowlers have shown this summer.

Mate you can understand other Umps doing it (for fear of generating adverse media criticism and pressure from ICC hierarchy etc.) , but when your own Billy does it to your own team , you have to wonder don't you ? :D

Doesn't matter when Styris' returns, he shouldn't be batting at 4 anyway.

Probably was a blessing in disguise not to have playing in this series, him and McMillan couldn't score runs against them to save their lives.

it cant really be asked enough, can it? :D
I don't read about it in the local papers or TV news. Those who are better informed may know, but will either of them be fit for the SL series? Oram may be out for a lot longer.

Franklin seems a good find- hoepfully I can get to watch the highlights package. He too has a century and more than a few 50's at the domestic level- there seem to be quite a few bowlers in NZ who can score runs.

When do Styris and Oram return?
Styris has been ruled out of the Sri Lankan series as has Oram.
Styris had articular cartilage under his knee cap. He had surgey to remove it on the 15th March and has 4 - 6 weeks recovery . .

Oram has been ruled out of the Sri Lankan series and is looking towards a return against Zimbabwe in September. He started running and doing some batting but didn't feel quite right and decided that there was no point in hurrying back for two test matches, so is taking his recovery slowly. He is doing active rest which involves cycling and weights where he isn't putting too much strain on his back.

This is all i know, hope it helps

Yet another one-sided win for Australia... is anyone else getting bored? I'm still for Australia having two teams... atleast one would lose.

Gillespie dismisses Fleming caught and bowled in the third over this morning, great catch from Gillespie. Terrible start to the day for the New Zealanders, 15/3 and still trailing by 76...
