Test cricket is back.... Yeah I've been around, haven't moved on from CW. Just that I was all over the place in the last couple of months or three due to work taking to places where cricinfo was the only source of following cricket. Back home yesterday.. yay It's been a while since I watched cricket on TV and I'm fizzing.

Good day I believe for us yesterday, there was fair bit in it for the bowlers and can't wait to watch our spin bowling go about their business. Taylor what a champion, no matter what the surface is he plays very positively and effectively. He's like our version of Rahul Dravid/Ponting/Kallis. Ever reliable. Tough luck for Kane, if he batted half an hour he will have put a massive partnership with Rosco. I think if we put 275+ on board we have a massive chance if the rains don't play spoilsport.

So, are we happy with 250 here? IMO need at least that (given the turn + slow outfield I'll take 250) but would need 300 ish to feel comfy tbh.

Rossco is an absolute ****in legend, looked totally on a different level. Latham/Watling kinda just threw it away. Wish Nicholls had done better though.
It's so hard to tell against Sri Lanka too because the middle order is full of players who aren't very good overall but can play ATG innings on tough pitches. Mendis almost seems more likely to score runs the worse the conditions.

And multiply by another factor of how much pressure is on - has really pulled through when needed unexpectedly

No matter what happens for the rest of this test, Akila nabbing a fifer on his test return is the best news any SL fan could have hoped for, he was looking like he'd go down the Tharindu Kaushal route for a minute there...

Just noticed BOP Fernando isn't playing. Didn't he do really well in SA?

Ah the Watling "uphill skiing only" attribute lives on in other nations too. Nice.

He really only played one great innings, but he should at least be opening in the place of Thirimanne, Vishwa Fernando is another who did really well in SA who isn't playing

12 overs til 2nd new ball. Need these two out there for that and then hoping Southee can add a few more to his sixes tally later on.

What on earth was Southee doing thinking there was a run there? Just bobbled off his pad in the direct vicinity of 1st slip!

Can't be too hard on the team, this is their first time/in years batting in these conditions for a lot of them

Haven't had the chance to acclimatize.
