On the bright side, give how overcast and humid it is, there's a good chance that Tim and Trent will really have something to work with during the first 15-20 overs.

Am guessing it will be spin from both ends after that over. Looking quite easy for numbers 9 and 10, which should really make Ross feel a bit sick.

Hopefully new ball will backfire with Boult connecting with a few.

edit: that's one!

FMD these ****s can't even score 250-260 ish from that position?

Anyhoo, got a feeling that Boult/Southee is gonna have more of an impact here than the spinners. Fingers crossed.

Thrimanne has a technique of a bloke who should definitely average more than 22. Really doesn't seem that bad to the naked eye. Did a solid job seeing off our new ball bowlers last summer too. Maybe a big score is around the corner

If he actually gets a score, they'll pick him for the next 20 years.

Ah okay. Last summer was my first proper look at him and I was surprised at his determination to not give his wicket away cheaply. 3 of his 4 innings he faced over 80 balls. None of them resulted in a 50, but he did a good old school openers job.

Maybe that's why they keep persisting with him? If 20(60) scores have been a constant for him through his career I can sorta see the logic. Especially when you've got teammates like Dickwella, Mendis and Perera who seem to be all out attack. Need the counterweights

Ideally your counterweight would score runs eventually though, and he just never does. Needs to go in the bin.

Bad drop. Karunaratne is important in these conditions, solid batsman.

Looking at thirimanne's record, his one century was back in 2013 and all but one of his fifties was 2015 or earlier, so seems like they could argue he had promise up until about 2016.

Didn't want to post this before he got out lest I reverse jinx him.
