Maybe that's why they keep persisting with him? If 20(60) scores have been a constant for him through his career I can sorta see the logic. Especially when you've got teammates like Dickwella, Mendis and Perera who seem to be all out attack. Need the counterweights

He looked quite solid in Australia, doing the blunting job at the top of the order like Akash Chopra did back in 2003, but as has been said he never kicks on and sometimes does dumb **** that isn't redeemable like today, he's not an outstanding fielder (dropped a lot of catches over the Aus/SA tours) and he doesn't bowl, he only ever looks international class when he comes in around 5 or 6 in ODIs.

And in any case, given that Chandimal and BOP Fernando are sitting it out and Thirimanne isnot really an ideal foil to Dimuth at the other end there is just no reason to pick him, ever again

K Mendis strikes me as a bit of a get to 20 and go big type, as an opposition you get a bit nervous if you don't pick him up early
