NZ played brilliantly and I am only speaking from an Indian PoV here. But they did offer those chances and we could not take them. And they ran us ragged instead.

Would have been really interesting to see how that would have gone. India only have two frontline pacers and I don't know if bumrah and siraj are as suited to exploiting the bounce and 25 overs of seam movement we saw on day 1, those two have actually been pretty poor with the new ball recently at home and made up for it with the old, reversing ball. Batting actually got marginally easier after twenty five overs, the issue was that at that point siraj and kuldeep where batting. Given how india fielded on day three I also don't know if they would have held onto all the chances NZ did.

Especially first thing in the morning when there's been rain around all week - if it's going to do anything off the seam it will be early on, so why not attack the top of off stump to start with?

I can't describe how stupid this is to Sarfaraz. They genuinely appear convinced that his cut shot is his weakness and look absolutely baffled that he keeps hitting it for four.
