Agreed. With the kind of lineup and lower half NZ has you need your top 5 to bat the opposition out of the game when they get set. This is where they go missing too often after getting a platform , the first Galle test was a great example.Nup, we're 6 out all out with the way our lower order looks here.
You're absolutely right, it is a waste, but honestly it feels like 250 v this Indian attack over there is actually not the worst result. The only thing that gets me is the shot Mitchell played to get out, and the one Latham nicked out but was dropped early on. You expect two senior players to try to grind India into the dirt with experience and ability. Especially on a deck like this with FA in it for the seamers
Don't forget this Test: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series...land-vs-england-1st-test-63739/full-scorecardSouthee certainly hasn't lived up to his early hype with the bat, his first test innings is still his best but he's still better than some of our old tailenders.
Ewen Chatfield, Danny Morrison and Chris Martin were absolute shockers that barely knew which end of the bat to hold let alone ,make any useful runs.
In his defence there are still two more wickets if he goes and you’d back Rachin to get it with Ajaz and O’Rourke.Jesus, Southee still having a wog every few balls with Ravindra a decent chance for a hundred here.
