I guess you'd be dropping a bowler - unless, of course, you'd drop Hussain after he outperforms Butcher in every way, Trescothick after an 80 in the first innings, Strauss after... well, you know.

Laughable, maybe - but sometimes you have to consider that every other player is performing on some level aside from them, and you have to bring a captain back into the side.

Some people don't learn - you don't drop proven performers like Butcher and Thorpe because of 1 poor match. It's laughable - they are the backbone of the side.
i couldnt have said it better myself.....i dont think loony bob happened to watch the tour of the west indies either.

The ball is really nipping around a bit, and from the bits of the match I've seen it has done it quite a bit.
It amazes me when I see people playing the ball so well when it moves off the pitch, there's so little time to react.

some really close lbw shouts so far...especially the one on Hussain just before lunch. NZ really needed that decision to go their way, but not to be.

Get Tresco to keep and drop Jones (G). Jones drops everything.
despite the fact that jones has more talent with the bat than trescothick?
and im guessing when boucher and stewart struggled last year you said the same then ?

So tell me, Andre/TEC, who would you drop? Educate me. :)

EDIT: And who do you think the selectors will drop?

Apologies Looney Bob - went a little hard on you. I see your point but I don't agree, I think all 6 batsmen have to play.

Who to drop though???
Hoggard or Giles one would assume......

Although Trescothick is just as good as Jones with the gloves

As a general rule, all Trescothick-related comments on these forums are purely intended to stir you up.

(I wasn't seriously advocating Jones being dropped for a specialist batsman. For a specialist keeper, maybe, but that's another story.)

you cant drop a keeper just because he had one bad match with the gloves, especially at a venue where most keepers seem to struggle anyways. he didnt do too bad a job in antigua regardless of whether he got many that went past laras bat or not.
parthiv patel of india has been retained as a keeper despite having several poor matches with the gloves....so i dont see you're point here whatsoever.

Parthiv Patel doesn't have a gloveman of the quality of Chris Read waiting in the wings either....

It's a completely irrelevant arguement because India struggle for other viable alternatives.

i would drop trescothick or giles.....definetly not hoggard because IMO he is custom made for headingly.....that being said the selectors will probably drop hoggard.

Vettori comes on after lunch, bowls one over, concedes only one run, and is taken off the attack for Styris who is hit for four on the first ball.

Okay, what am I missing on the screen? :p

The fact that the ball has just aged sufficent for swing to come into the equation?

The fact that Vettori has next-to-no penetrative powers? Styris might get a wicket or two, and NZ need one.

Ooer. I always get a bit nervous when NZ are defending a total lower than 300. :( 118/2 and climbing steadily...

Possibly a little unfair?

He bowled quite superbly for a while this morning, could have had Strauss, should have had Butcher but was then taken apart by Hussain's footwork.

Back into the attack now - this spell is key to the match, I reckon.
