really?our last 4 wickets fell for 25 runs while NZ had a last wicket partnership of nearly 50. me thinks that partnership has really made things pretty even ATM.marc71178 said:But ironically, given all the talk about the Kiwi lower-middle order, it's England's that have done the business.
Yes, but that was after Flintoff and Jones put on more than 100 in less than an hour and a half...tooextracool said:really?our last 4 wickets fell for 25 runs while NZ had a last wicket partnership of nearly 50. me thinks that partnership has really made things pretty even ATM.
and oram scored 67 while cairns got 82(in quick time mind you).....so how exactly did england's lower middle order out perform NZ's?marc71178 said:Yes, but that was after Flintoff and Jones put on more than 100 in less than an hour and a half...
then again if you had seen vikram solanki's innings in the natwest series last year you would have said the same.Loony BoB said:Pretty harsh to be critical of a guy who scores a fast 46 runs in a bludgeoning vital partnership, especially someone who isn't a specialist batsman, let alone in the top five. Some might say that Cairns needs to defend more, but I sure as hell wouldn't. It all comes down to batting the way that they personally score best, and I'd certainly say he did well, although I don't know if he's expected to do better than that (?).
hopefully tresco realises this and throws the new ball to hoggardPY said:Harmo's radar is slightly off, not making the batsman play enough for my liking.
That explains who got the first wicket, then.tooextracool said:hopefully tresco realises this and throws the new ball to hoggard
Only in England!.... or possibly Australia...PY said:Beer stopped play.
Ball lands in a pint glass. Quality.
I agree (well I would it's Jonesy!) - The poor chap can't win, you want him to score runs, he scores you runs and he is put down... if he defended he could have got out for 10 and everyone would be on his back for failling, with 6 wickets down I think your entialed to open the arms a little more knowing the next two guy in is a bowler.... And Flintoff and Jones only did what Carins and Oram did and everyone was prasing themLoony BoB said:Pretty harsh to be critical of a guy who scores a fast 46 runs in a bludgeoning vital partnership, especially someone who isn't a specialist batsman, let alone in the top five.
