Good God, man, that has to be one of the best shows of pessimism I've seen in a long time. xD

oh I'm pleased enough for the likes of Richardson, Fleming & Styris for their batting, and Cairns & Franklin for their bowling performances...........however there is not a lot else to be getting excited about..............

as I said NZL do not need to be chasing a big deficit, need to bat well & long, and hope ENG self destruct abit...........however the NZL batting has 'failed' in each of the 2nd innings todate (Richardson & McCullum apart at Lords), and there are 3 days to go & ENG are a confident team atm..........

so far as being pessimistic - during my time in law enforcement & security we used to have a saying - be prepared for the worst & when it doesn't happen you've had a good day..............

however, I prefer to think of it as being perhaps a tad more realistic than pessimistic, as teams tend to struggle in the 2nd innings when 1 bowler short, let alone 2 & no spinner..............

I did say specialist batsmen! Oram and McCullum are kind of irrelevant to Macca's fate, seeing they will be there anyway for their other roles.
yeah I'd missed that until after I had responded.............. :goof:

(blames damnable 3am brain fade........again!!!!!)

Did you forget the quote marks and the attribution to Kylie Mills?

Cheers,

And when the commentator, speaking about his debut, said "blah blah blah James Kirtley", I could see the resemblance (and it was nothing to do with height, lack of it or the likelihood of picking up a few wickets at Trent Bridge.

Suggest voluminous shirts, especially in the vicinity of, say, half way down the right arm.

That many Kinks, I expected someone to start singing "Waterloo Sunset"

Yup. A shame you've got to wait nearly 3 hours for the sport.

I see it only took one shot by Thorpe for the England cricket team to score more runs today than the number of points the rugby team managed...

Oh dear, it seems a slightly dodgy decision there, poor Thorpe.

I think its because Taufel was worried Franklin would injure himself by appealing so tried to stop the appeal quickly. What a nice thing to do.

Now then...

I appreciate that the England rugby team normally run up cricket scores against the antipodeans, so I can see where the confusion arises, though.

A shame really for two reasons...

1. Thorpe was going along very nicely
2. Simon Taufel very rarely makes mistakes
3. Giles is in

three reasons....

4. There's still an hour to go before lunch

four reasons... I'll come in again.

<quack> Nobody expects the Spanisn Inquis...

Saggers has quite a spectacular batting technique.

Is he really better than Harmison?!

I thought the same thing when Harmison was promoted above Anderson in the West Indies. 'Twas quite amusing. :)

Giles now the fifth highest scorer of the innings, and proving to be quite a nuisance I must admit.

Sinclair looks like he just did his finger while stopping the ball.

Add another number to the injury column...It's almost funny now.

5 for Cairns, well deserved, maybe his last chance to do so, while Franklin will hopefully get many more chances.

At least he's a sub - so he wouldn't be able to bat anyway.

*waits to see how many falls to Harmo's bouncers* ;)
