ahh in butchers case it was more of an unnecessary shot....wide outside off stump with the new ball, why would you need to play at that?
Tresco would have - and probably smashed it to the extra cover boundary. :D

I'm saying nothing about the calling, though.

<MV> Ayup, Tresco.

In this instance, you are quite correct. His timing today has looked simply stunning

bad mills BAD
It seems that ever since Mills grew his hair into that strange formation his bowling has been truly shocking...could there be a connection?

Just noticed something interesting:

Richardson
Test Average: 47.9
First Class Average: 43.6

Styris
Test Average: 43.0
First Class Average: 31.5

Oram
Test Average 41.9
First Class Average: 38.2

McCullum
Test Average: 38.1
First Class Average: 29.5

Martin
Test Bowling Average: 30.8
First Class Bowling Average: 32.1

Bond
Test Bowling Average: 24.3
First Class Bowling Average: 27.1

Is the standard of New Zealand domestic cricket higher than Test cricket?

NZ wickets aren't the greatest for huge scores, and more importantly when our batsmen are at their best, they don't play FC games because they're too busy playing test matches.

Hamish Marshall is another example, averages in the low 20s in domestic one day, but in the 40s in ODIs.

His best ODI performances have come at Christchurch, Dunedin (the 2 fastest, bounciest pitches in NZ) and in Pakistan. He seems unable to handle the slow, seaming pitches (which is strange because his home ground is Hamilton, which is one of the most seamy pitches in the country).

It's not strange though, you say he averages 20 in domestic when his home ground is a seamy pitch, that would show he cant play seam hense why he probably cant play it at international level either :)

why do these guys even bother bowling around the wicket to tresco?
Because the bowlers are going halves with the photographers waiting for that shot of the Tresco 'square slap', I reckon.

I've definitely been impressed with Trescothick - really putting his name forward as man of the series, at least on the batting front.

EDIT: From an English view (as I'm guessing you've seen as much as I have when it comes to Franklin) - what's your opinion on his bowling? I can't wait to get home for the highlights... really missing out here. TGIF.
