Mills is a much better batsman than that average of 12.43 suggests. Hope he lifts it a bit today.

First time I looked at Mills' profile (about 2002 or so IIRR) he had a First-Class average over 40.

Shame it looked a little silly when whoever it was sent him in at three in South Africa, though, TBH.

Will never forget that innings Mills played in that ODI in Australia where Harris was injured and otherwise he might well have pulled-off the most sensational comeback in the history of that format.

That is true.

I genuinely believe he has the potential to average around 20-25 in Tests though.

What's the verdict on Ambrose so far in this match?

He's missed a number of leg side takes but I'm undecided on whether to blame him for them.

Whilst it's early in the summer, Hoggard would not be feeling too optimistic about his Eng future at present.

Sidebottom is a certainty whilst Broad and Anderson are doing enough to justify retention for another test at least.

Should one be found wanting after that, no doubt it'll be Freddie called up first

At 30-odd, Hoggard might well find himself on the outer with injuries being his only hope of a recall

He's made the odd error - not much worse than most people - but until he starts dropping catches I'm not going to be worrying.

The only time he seems to be found wanting is when the ball dips on him just before he takes it.

I've been thinking the same thing. The bowlers have certainly provided him a few testing leg-side deliveries and he hasn't stopped them all. A couple of Tuffeys though.

But he doesnt get much drift. More subtle than Giles but far less F&G and drift than someone like Tufnell
It may be a very subtle shape which is hard to pick up on TV but becomes apparent when right handers realise that they play outside the line of most deliveries. But I'm just speculating of course.

Well, I'm about as observant as a blind caterpillar, so I hadn't noticed until now.
Ah... Well, I doubt I've used it very much on here, thinking about it. More the sort of comment I use when I (rarely these days) play a game of a sport called Cricket. Feel free to use it and confuse your friends!

"Ooh! He's put down a real Daryl there"
"Gosh! This assignment's a real Daryl"
"My word, this poor quality Pak n Save Steak's a bit of a Daryl"

etc. etc.

Resisting the temptation to start a punning sesh in an in-match *Official* thread.

Ah, stuff it, How can you Marshall it anyway?
It'll take a Wiseman to keep this going for longer than a minute or Twose. But you never know, maybe we can Drum up several more participants. That'd be Sewell.
