Sooooo...
I just could not believe that Flynn dropped such a monumental sitter off Haddin. Quite extraordinary. I now a lot of these players are new and may not have received the kind of fielding coaching that regular internationals get, but that was appauling. I would've been disappointed to drop that, and I can't catch for ****.
I'd like to see us bat for at least 4 sessions, but I doubt we'll manage it. Predict Redmond and How to get out early, Ryder to play a crap shot in his 30's, Taylor in his 20's, Flynn to get deservedly run out for 0 without facing a ball (OK, maybe that's just something I'd like to see happen), and McCullum to have a bash at the end and get 60 off 50, as we crumble to 240 all out.
Well batted to Michael Clarke. I was really disappointed we didn't get Haddin early. He looked determined to get out in the first 5 or so overs that he was out there.
Again surprisingly O'Brien is the only one to escape with moderately acceptable bowling figures. Considering what a road it was, it does say something about his nack for strangling wickets. And good on Redmond for grabbing a couple at the end. I really think Vettori should've used him and Ryder more. To expect 3 seamers (one of whom is 19 and clearly not quite ready for full test cricket yet) to run in for 2 days straight, even with Vettori holding up the other end, was a bit much.
